The Alton Towers Dungeon

But if you can't record videos, how am I meant to film my vlog!?!?!?!
Gone are the days when you could pull a sickie and never be found out! Now, there's always a risk you'll be in the background in a vlog! Was at Blackpool Pleasure Beach opening day* on Saturday and so far I've seen myself in 4 vlogs!

(*I use that term loosely as not much seemed to be open and what was soon broke down *cough Icon cough*)

Nothing more amusing than watching someone get permission from security to wear a mask in those very circumstances.
They were most obliging, and had heard it before.
Seen it at the cricket as well, bloke in a horse head mask...with an "I'm on a sickie, but my boss loves the cricket" sign in his lap.
Long focus on his sign...then a big thumbs up and wave on the Big screen.

This really irks me.

Alton Towers Resort has given thrill-seekers a sneak peek of its brand new ride, set to open for the 2019 season.

The new 'Alton Towers Dungeon' attraction is sure to get that adrenaline pumping judging by the image, which reveals that theme park goers will be taken around the attraction in a boat with plenty of spooky surprises hidden around the track.

The theme park has remain fairly tight-lipped about exactly what will be in store for fans, although they have promised a "hilariously hideous journey through Staffordshire’s darkest history".

You won't have to wait too long to check it out for yourself either, as it's set to open to the public on Saturday 23rd March 2019.

The dungeon will be replacing the former Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride, which first opened in 2006 and was based on Roald Dahl's famous book of the same name.

The attraction was closed in 2015 to make way for new additions to the resort.

To mark the end of an era, Alton Towers recently held a charity auction, selling off various props and features from the ride.

Items included five Oompa Loompas, giant inflatable blueberries, squirrels, a chocolate covered Augustus Gloop and other life-size characters, as well as quirky signage including ‘The Inventing Room’ and ‘Juicing Room’.

Monies raised from the auction will go to Merlin’s Magic Wand, a children's charity that supports children facing challenges of serious illness, disability or adversity, and Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity that funds Roald Dahl Specialist Children's Nurses in communities across the UK.

The dungeon won't be the only new addition to Alton Towers Resort.

In fact, the theme park will be offering a brand new range of Stargazing Pods accommodation .

It's essentially glamping with all the basics you need for a comfortable night's stay.

They will be one of the resort's cheapest accommodation options too, with prices from £88 per night off-peak and £123 in peak season.

When it comes to filming in the attraction, people will still do it. If you search 'Dungeons Walkthrough' on YouTube, you'll find tons of videos of other Dungeons, with a pitch black screen and some noises in the background... I never get why people film inside dark attractions, it's utterly pointless.

Now I'm slightly confused by this new teaser video, simply because it doesn't follow the new marketing of the Dungeons, the voice over is nothing like any of the other Dungeons adverts and seems very out of place with the rest of the brand?
It makes multiple references to "laughing" and "screaming" throughout, and isn't the whole mantra of the Dungeons now "fear is a funny thing"?

Yes it does mention the laughing and screaming part which they haven't gone for for the last few years, but the visuals and overall tone of the video aren't the same as the other Dungeons marketing for some reason.

It comes across as a very cheap production.

Couldn't see any mention of an additional charge.

And this is just it. If there is an additional charge, they are going to really struggle with the marketing of this.

I just cannot see how they have market research to show people are willing to spend money on this. On a day where it's busy in park, and you may struggle to get on the big 6-7 coasters given wait times etc. who is going to opt to pay an extra £7.50 to go on an attraction, in addition to their £30 - when they could use that for Fastrack for Wickerman or whatever?
