I don’t see how adding extra accommodations can be a priority at all when existing cannot be filled
This thing is clearly so cheap to build that it pays to built it just for the added revenue those few mega busy days a year bring.
Even if there’s ten days in a year when the other accommodation sells out, just filling the sheds for those ten days will pay back far more than the capex. In fact, if they’re going for £100/night per shed, I’d guess just one night’s stay will repay construction cost.
Since guest expert isn’t a primary driver, they’re quids in after year one.
Everyone’s a winner. Unless you actually stayed in them, then you’ve definitely not won.
I think the Tipi was always part of the plans, but some earlier plans when it was lodge expansion did have an outdoor bar, food vans and entertainment space with AstroTurf outside. And I believe the Tipi would have Shad a building next to it.
Those plans also had its own reception building , rather than using tree top quest.

Well nothing says quirky and magical more than some bog standard uPVC brown windows and council car park gravel.
They could have at least installed some round windows or something and landscaped the place.
I’m picturing an evening here to be as tragic as that episode of the Inbetweeners at caravan club.
Well having Camber Sands down the road id even say Pontins at Camber has more to offer than the sheads.
This is how they promote there pods on the Towers website, I think they got it right when they advertise them as unforgettable (for all the wrong reasons )
Wow, just when you think things couldn't get any worse you see the inside of the tent. Truly awful and uninspiring, and not at all somewhere you might be able to go and have a relaxing evening.
I feel more sorry for those in the pods directly outside the front doors. You'll be able to hear everything from inside.
Looks like guests are enjoying the new Stargazing Pods then
I simply cannot wait for the first Trip Advisor reviews to start dribbling in.
Merlin clearly missing a trick by not selling fast passes for the Stargazing shack breakfast que

Wait, a small catering unit originally designed as a drinks cafe for a handful of guests watching the TTQ can’t cope with 400 people wanting breakfast in a short time frame each morning? Who could have possibly seen that coming?!
Oh yeah. Everyone.
They're not even trying to hide how lamentably diabolical this whole idea was, are they?
Product excellence at its best, it’s better than nothing.
I want Alton Towers to succeed of course, but I hope this whole embarassing holiday camp from hell is a huge failure and the company with "the best themed accomodation in the world" reconsiders their strategy. And invests in the park a bit more.
This accommodation was completely unnecessary, especially when Splash is closed for half the year. Why not just, y'know, spend money on improving the resort's entertainment offerings - which has been badly needed for years - rather than adding on loads more rooms for no discernible reason whatsoever?
But not adding rooms wouldn’t give Varney his 1000 rooms that he craves
