Aquashow Portugal 2025 Mack Coaster

During the summer, I visited Aquashow water park in Portugal.

It’s a fantastic park and they already have several flat rides as well as this Mack water coaster which is basically a clone of Poseidon: https://rcdb.com/3106.htm

But what’s interesting is that RCDB lists an unknown “large coaster” from Mack opening in 2025.

Sadly I didn’t get a chance to get any photos, but the construction site when I visited looked huge, and there were multiple supports already on site, so this could be very interesting.

Not sure if anyone has heard any more or has any insights beyond what’s on RCDB?

If I was a betting man, I’d expect a Mack Power Splash as this would fit in really well with the water park’s lineup.

Has anyone else visited lately and have any idea what could be coming on to that site? If this is something big, then I definitely think another trip to Portugal could be in order, especially since Aquashow is only a very short taxi ride from the airport and is in a lovely area near the marina.

Whilst a PowerSplash would be fantastic and fitting, I'm hoping it's a more conventional coaster. I'd say even a clone of Blue Fire would be a hit as Portugal has not very many rollercoasters.

A Mack Stryker could be world class and put Portugal on the theme park map.

It would be very interesting if Aquashow were to go with a large scale non-water coaster.

This would most likely be seen as a move away from water park and more towards being a theme park meets water park, like Land of Legends or Etnaland. I mean, they already have a hotel and two flat rides so they’re part way there even now.

I live in Portugal and visit Aquashow all the time. In August I was there and spoke with an employee and he only told me it was a new rollercoaster opening 2025, but he didn’t know any other details.
I have a few photos and videos of the construction site, but I really thought it was quite small for a “large” rollercoaster.

I was hopping for some news during this year’s IAAPA, but… nothing so far :(
I couldn’t be any more excited for this!

I got excited when I saw Mack announce their new launch water coaster. I really thought this was going to be an announcement of Aquashow’s 2025 coaster. Sadly it turned out to be a 2026 project for Freitzeitpark Plohn though.

Really hoping we get an announcement about this soon.

Also I’m super jealous of you for living in Portugal. What it lacks in coasters, it makes up for in just about everything else 😃

I like living here. I am actually from Brazil and used to live in London before, so Portugal is like heaven for me compared to both other places I have lived before :tearsofjoy:

In fact, we do have some news! Someone from Mack said during the IAAPA's that it is a launch coaster, something "half-known" but it will be something kind of unique, since the space is very narrow and small. Because of space restrictions, the layout will be quite tall! He said they are very excited and so am I! :)

A launch! Now that is interesting. Thanks for sharing this. Would a Mack PowerSplash essentially be classed as a launch though?

I keep coming back to a PowerSplash because this is a water park and I can’t imagine a ‘dry’ coaster opening here, especially since the two dry flat rides that Aquashow has, seem to be far less popular than the water rides.

But then who knows. Maybe a standard Mack layout with water elements incorporated into it. That would explain the “half-known” comment.

This is honestly one of the most intriguing coaster developments of 2025. The fact that so little is known about it, makes it all the more exciting.

I'm not sure about the PowerSplash, even though I would love to have one so close to home! I love the one at Walibi Belgium, it is great fun :)
This is (roughly) where the roller coaster is being built, from what I could see last time I was there. Do you think a PowerSplash would fit in there?
I'm so curious that soon I'll drive the 2 and a half hours to the park just to see how the construction is going. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

I’m thinking perhaps not actually. Looking at the picture really highlights what a tight site it is.

When I visited last month, the area at the top of the site (which I believe used to be a show arena?) had a huge concrete base and seemed to go quite far below ground level… not that this really gives us any more clues.
