I’d like to apologise

Hi guys,
This may seem like a random thread to make, but I just thought it would be the good & polite thing to do given that everyone seems very annoyed with me at the moment.

The point of this thread is that I’d like to sincerely apologise for my recent actions in various topics on the forum. I don’t mean to annoy or upset anyone with my posts; I guess I’m just a pariah with regards to some of my opinions! I appreciate that I’m not an easy person to deal with, and that at times, talking to me can be akin to talking to a brick wall. I don’t mean to be difficult, I don’t mean to rile people up, I’m merely expressing my opinions, just like all of you are. I apologise that my opinions prove triggering in most cases, and I often wish that I could think in the same way that all of you do, but no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to think in a more cynical mindset.

I often think that it would be best if I just didn’t comment anymore and went back to lurking like I used to before I joined this forum in 2017, but my problem is; even though I’ve never met any of you in person, this forum is a huge part of my life. I come on here every day, and I think that the forums are one of the key things keeping me going at the moment. I enjoy commenting on here and discussing my opinions with other people immensely; I’ve always enjoyed hearing other people’s opinions on things, whether they agree with my own or not!

Quite frankly, I’d like to say a huge thank you to you all for putting up with me for the last 3 years. Even though I try to please people, I can sense that the people of this forum aren’t very pleased with me most of the time, and for that, I apologise. I would probably have been banned from most other forums by now, but the wonderful community here has never turned me away, and for that, I’m incredibly thankful.

I hope you all appreciate my apology, and I apologise if you don’t like long, emotional outpourings like this one. I just thought that the good thing for me to do would be to set things right with you all and apologise for my actions.

There's no need to apologize for who you are (an optimist) when it's not hurting anyone, it might at times irritate people but it's doing no harm.
It would be a loss if everyone else (including me) on towers Street was left to our own devices as it seems a pessimist heavy site.

Never apologise for being you. We love your optimisem and the forum is far more interesting for it.

I've seen a lot of new members come along, derail topics and post constantly. But you are different. You post a lot but your posts are trying to move the conversation forward. Give it time and you'll settle in. Most of the others did and I'd say you've made a much better start.

I only regret that you will lose your optimism over time. It happens to all of us, it's part of getting old :(

Matt, I take the pee out of you but I've been glad of your optimism in the Coronavirus thread, you've somehow managed to stay increadibly posititive during this time. Just don't appologise, at this rate we'll have to start ranking the appologies :p

Matt you have nothing whatsoever to apologise for! I think my post in the London Resort explains a lot of what I'd want to say in here anyway and can see you've had a look at that :).

Give me a shout privately if you want to chat about it further, I don't think anyone's intention was ever to convince you to stop posting.

Just noticed that Matt N is nearing 5000 posts making him the biggest contributer who is not a founding member!
That’s a milestone I certainly never knew I had!

I must admit I feel slightly more reassured. I just wanted to do this because I felt that it seemed as though I was getting on everyone’s nerves, and I just wanted to set things right and make it very clear that that’s not my intent at all.

I admit that I also worry that I might be getting on people's nerves. Just watch people react to me ride booking system ideas on discord.

If this is (partly) about Icon then I'm genuinely fascinated by your view on it! :)
Don’t worry; it wasn’t triggered by your Icon question at all! I can happily see why someone would want to see why I have such a differing opinion on it to the rest of the community, and I’m more than happy to talk about it in great detail given that it’s my number 2! It was more triggered by some reception to my recent comments in the London Resort thread.

Matt, your optimism is great and it's very refreshing to have around, as others have said. However, while we're on the subject, I want to take this moment to ask you very politely and with all good intentions, to stop "thanking people for the clarification"! We have a "like" feature, which I know you know how to use, so please just use that instead.

:)

My apologies; I only do it to try and be polite! In future, I’ll try to do it a little less!

It's no more polite than just using the like feature, which in itself acknowledges the post, and doesn't clog up threads as a result. Thanks.
