It's not a cheap job, the key win over building a new ride is how you can offset the price of the new steel by scrapping the old, or by selling it to nerds like us.

You can't really get a price for how much Nemesis would cost to retrack, as it's a specialised product that's fabricated by B&M with no standard price available - it's probably considerably more than £3-4m at current prices mind! It's a substantial investment, but still nowhere near the price that a new attraction of the same calibre would cost.

A new ride would need planning, substantial groundwork, new station, brake run, maintenance area and lift hill. All of which are not affected by the current track replacement proposal.

In terms of souvenir stuff, I can't see Towers going down the route of just chopping up giant bits of track and flogging them a la Blackpool. You might see some stuff done with bolts or something like that, although then again you might not see anything at all and just a substantial merch line for the 30th birthday. Who knows at this point, I doubt they even do themselves! They're likely more concerned about managing to hit budget and timescale for the project over anything else right now.

As for a closure of the ride, there's an assumption being made that this will put the ride out of action for a season. I'm not even sure if this would be the case. They may choose to split works over multiple closed seasons, or they could do one extended closure into May so it's ready for the main Summer season. I wouldn't write off 2023 as the year Nemesis will be completely shut just yet!

Less the value of the scrap steel.

Some of which will be purchased at inflated prices by people here

I don't think this work is being done to be marketed as a new ride. Merlin are doing it to prolong the rides lifespan. Afterall it is 28 years this year which was the same age corkscrew met its demise
 
I think if they hit the press hard with it with ads and news broadcasts, the gp would want to purely to ride it again, They won't market it as a new ride but more

'Nemesis is back! Ride if you dare'
'Fall back in love with Nemesis'
on the ads

hammer the local news with it and id dare say some sort of documentary on channel 4

I was thinking that too, they won't want guests turning up and being disappointed as they didn't know that Nemmy was closed for the season.

Fingers crossed you and your daughter can ride it this season! :)

Same. My lad is 8 in April but he is very tall like I am so he's closing in on 140cm. Hope he can get on it by Halloween.
 
They should just add some more of those random announcements.
