Hope this is the right place for this thread. Just seen this link from the Burton Mail that the Holiday Lodges in Oakamoor have been given the go ahead from a high court judge.

Controversial plans for 250 holiday lodges in a disused sand quarry near Alton Towers have been given the go ahead despite a High Court challenge from a local protester.

The cabins will be part of a large new leisure development at Moneystone Quarry, Cheadle Road, Oakamoor.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council had granted outline planning permission to developers Laver Leisure Ltd in September last year.

But the decision was challenged in court by local objector Paul Housiaux, who claimed the decision was "irrational and perverse."

So draaaaaaging this thread up from depths of the forum deeper than even the Sub-Terra excavation site.

This proposal, for 250 lodges and pool, bar, gym, cycle routes etc just 4 miles from Alton Towers has finally had a decision made on its latest planning application by SMDC after it was submitted in 2019(!) aaaaaaand….they have refused it.

The developer now needs to decide on either an appeal, amending the plans or walking away.

It’s a shame really as it would provide some much needed competition to onsite accommodation in the local area.
