Raik's lift is fully enclosed now, along with the cladding on River Quests lift

This is going to be quite intimidating as you walk up to the entrance now, with Mystery Castle, River Quest and now this looming over you!

Where River Quest enters the now Klugheimed lift tunnel

Apparently there has had to be some modifications to the theme work around the ride because the envelope tester was only just squeezing through! You can see it in the pictures PL posted to FB yesterday, circled in red here:

Even if this isn't he most thrilling coaster ever, it's certainly going to be an experience whizzing around that.

Wonder how many trains?

No idea how the block sections work on this, just thinking, watching it seeing two zipping around would be quite brilliant! Especially if you're on it and they pass at any sections... wonder if it's been designed to be that interactive?

While still debated I think most on Phantafriends believe maybe it could have 4 trains.

As well as the ongoing work on Taron and Raik and the now completed retheme/refurbishment of River Quest other rides have received some attention. The Colorado Adventure's trains have been given new wheels and chassis. The ride is now smoother and quieter.
Also the first turntable in Chiapas has been slowed down to make the direction change not so violent.
Some of the rock faces at Black Mamba have been renewed. Nice to see after 10 years they make the effort to make replace the rock to make Black Mamba seem almost new.

See the comparison to the old theming on the right.

In Klugheim the construction continues.

Scaffolding is still up in the Raik lifthills.

Race for Atlantis as we know has been demolished but the new park map confirmed rumours that the events tents and buildings behind the dome are being removed.

Now this large area, around about the same size as Klugheim, is for the park's next mega project...

The TUV (German Health and safety) and Intamin have been on site with Taron every day after the park closes since Monday. Testing is taking place.

Sounds good! Are there any rumours floating around of when they would like to get it open? They must be wanting to get something firm sorted out soon.

:)

I thought nobody had seen any testing yet and the park had a curfew of 10pm? I think they're probably doing the small scale launch tests, I don't think they will have done any full circuit tests yet.

Oddly not. July seems to be a popular rumour based on the fact that the "buy one ticket get another later in the season free" promotion has June and July blocked out. But that could just be because it's peak summer season? There's still quite a bit left to do on site as well so I don't think it's going to be much earlier than May time.

:)

Just some of the first tests of the launch though:

On another note, the hatches through wich you can take a look at Klugheim have been closed off now. Oh Phantasialand..

I'm not familiar with how testing works but they've hardly only done this for the past 3 days at night though?

Also where did you hear about the hatches. Pretty sure that video was filmed through them.

The person that filmed the video posted it on Phantafriends. They were closed a couple of minutes after this test.

Tests during the past 3 days at night were just a rumor to my knowledge.
It looks similar to cheetah hunts first test launches. Soon enough we should be able to see the train rolling over the overbanked turn.

That looks like they're testing it at low power to make sure it all works and the'll gradually ramp the power up over time until they're confident it'll make it to the next launch and then repeat the process there. I think this adds weight to the idea that they haven't been testing during the night though, as you say, they've been at it for 3 days so they should be past this stage by now?

It makes sense to make the first couple of tests a crawl just to check the system. But once that's done, they'll have to launch at full speed or the train will end up stuck in a tunnel somewhere.

Launch tests continue. The hatches remain closed but the fence behind the new gate have been removed allowing us to see the first overbank.

Read that Cheetah Hunt's first launch tests took place on 17.04 and the ride opened 27.05.

The hatches have been reopened as of the weekend when we visited, however they'll no doubt screw them closed again once testing starts again.

That looks quite nippy for a full test run! Love how this video was edited together to the soundtrack. Excitement levels...rising.
