The issue is they spent so much on what. An unreliable, short coaster. Ferrari branding. Barely any rides. Literally the only thing that is worth any time is flying dreams. I wasted a good half a day there.

Ferrari Land is apparently 14 acres, which is the same size as WWoHP at Universal in Florida. Not sure which of the areas this is, but it's one of them. You don't see Universal charging $25-30 extra on top of park admission for the Harry Potter areas, do you, PortAventura? While WWoHP is admittedly a bad comparison, the point I'm trying to get across is that Ferrari Land, in its current state, is too small, in terms of ride quantity and things to do, to function as a proper second theme park. What PortAventura need to do is they should add a couple more rides and maybe another coaster or two to make Ferrari Land better value. And they're going in the right direction by adding this kids' area, as it will bolster out the park's lineup and get it closer to being a full day park. After this kids' area, I reckon Ferrari Land could do with another roller coaster. I reckon a Mack family launcher, similar to Slinky Dog at Hollywood Studios, would work well. Or they could even opt for the Mack megacoaster ride system and make it a family ride, like SeaWorld San Diego did with Manta. Theme it to cars and name it something like Ferrari F40 Test Track and they're on to a winner. While we're in alternate PortAventura, they could also add a non-simulator dark ride, maybe something akin to Speed of Magic in the Abu Dhabi Ferrari World on a smaller scale. Or if they wanted to be weird, they could do an indoor log flume, like the now demolished V12: Enter The Engine in Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Then, I reckon Ferrari Land could be done for a while.

Ferrari Land looks like a lovely base for PortAventura to expand upon, it just lacks rides at the moment.

The park doesn't have much expansion space though unless they use some of the car park. It's trapped really with not much extra space

Speaking of PA announcements, has anyone heard anything else about the new nighttime entertainment area/hotel thing that involved Hard Rock?

After the initial announcement I haven’t heard anything else. Is it still even happening?

Not just saying this coz I'm an adult an all, but surely there's more need for family/large rides, than kids rides? A few more kids rides isn't going to make it a full day park.

Well the only kiddie rides before were the whip rides and the autopia style attraction. The simulators are more family rides, so to be honest, any extra ride is a positive with the abysmal amount of rides there this year!

I think it's more about providing something for a whole family across the park. It's probably the key thing that its missing and it's perhaps not a huge risk from a capital point of view.

The park doesn't interest me in the slightest as it stands.

You'd have thought that building the tallest and fastest coaster in Europe would have geeks from all over clamouring to get there.

    But somehow, PA failed.

Alas. Hopefully the park will be beefed up soon. I'm sure I will head back to PA in the next year or two.

Beating their own records with a ride that was about a decade too late in the interesting stakes was never going to be a real winner though for enthusiasts...

It amazes me that this ride was built in the first place.

I can't imagine FL not being incorporated into the main park within five years or so. I can't see it's appeal being that long lasting, and it might solve some of the current problems (those that should have been solved...), within the original park.

This. They could have at least stuck a bit of a layout on it after the top hat, not "Hmm let's just make it the same as Stealth but bigger, faster and without the airtime/brake hill"

More "Let's make an smaller version of a 14 (!) year old coaster" but same concept...

To be fair to them the vast majority of the parks punters are Spanish, they probably have never heard of Stealth or THORPE PARK (lucky sods.) The Spanish Love Ferrari and this was a good option of fitting a coaster that fits with the brand (fast acceleration) into the small footprint of the park.
After visiting in November and seeing the uninspiring entrance to the new park it does seem likely that it will be merged into the main park after they've recouped some of the early costs although i'm not sure how that would work as PA Hotel is sandwiched between the two/ They could link it around the Baco area in some way I suppose. The other option is further expansion, there is room, they can get rid of the remaining car park which will free up quite a bit of space.

The attractions for this new kids' area have been announced, and they are apparently as follows:
    • Unnamed SBF Visa Group Red Baron 8
    • Champions Race (SBF Visa Group Drift Race)
    • Crazy Pistons (SBF Visa Group Fly Over)
    • Junior Red Force (Zamperla Speedy Coaster according to RCDB, but another source says it's being manufactured by SBF Visa Group)
    • Kid's Tower (SBF Visa Group Drop'n'Twist)
Sounds good! Any new attractions are good new attractions for Ferrari Land! SBF Visa seem like an interesting choice of manufacturer, but I'm sure the rides will be great!

Apparently a member on TPR saw it in a local newspaper.

Been at Portaventura again this week. Had a great first day on Thursday. I treated myself to an express pass although it wasn't that busy. Most coasters were only 20/30 mins even though there seemed to be plenty of visitors. I suppose it helps when you've got so many other attractions to soak up the crowds.

However, the second day (today) was a disaster. Strong winds meant that all the major rides were closed all day. There was a massive queue at customer services to get return tickets - it reminded me of home! To be fair, I felt sorry for the park as the weather was extreme. Of course, at AT, it now seems to be a daily procession.

Anyway, I'm going to sneak in a few more rides in the morning before I head back to the airport.
