Ripsaw's modes?

I've been searching around on youtube and have come across many different ride 'modes'
This is a very wet mode that I found

This is another one- normal i think

And this one is so boring, I would be very disapointed

So what ripsaw modes have you seen
And also, do they have set modes, or is it the ride op's job to change the cycles?

The wiki used to have this, some people know the cycles by heart. I can recognise a few of the, but I couldn't tell you the numbers. :p

I think there's 11 and the operator selects, there's also a manual mode, but it's deactivated on Ripsaw.

I think.

Yeah there are 4 commonly used sequences, the water is operator controlled so is potentially different every time.

From what I recall there are only 8 different cycles don't hold me to that :)

It's too intense!

I believe that it has 36 flips, and there is a video on Youtube to prove it.

It's every Ripsaw fan's dream!

Too dangerous for guests to be on it while that cycle is in operation, I think.

Don't know if it's like submissions cycle 3 but it's been considered too harsh on people riding

The 1st and 3rd video are the same setting (#7) - only the fountains are different. The 2nd video is program 6, which is a shortened version of 7.

Program 5 is also a shortened form of p7, but it's complete rubbish (note the lack of "fly-over" at the end, unlike 6 & 7 (video by BigDave):

The shortest setting in common use is #4, filmed here by Stu:

A few years ago they used #3 for a while, which is basically #4 but with only 1 spin. It looks utterly dire, and the person who filmed this vid clearly wasn't very impressed:

The final setting in common use is program 8. It is the longest of all programs used with guests (no idea about 9). The ride stops at the bottom half way through but it is only 1 cycle. Thanks to Stu again for filming this one:

One program locks the gondola and rotates non-stop until you manually stop the ride. Its essentially a test sequence.

Program 9 lasts about 5mins and just inverts in a locked position for most of the time. There is an overspeed test which locks the gondola in a way that the ride will pull massive negative Gs. When a certain force is pulled, the ride automatically trips out.

Been on 7 & 8, But when I went a week ago they had a young-ish op on who actually utilized most of the cycles.

Also, he used the catchphrase 'You've been detoxed by Ripsaw' ... it was good to see a glimmer of magic in a M£rlin world.

Edit: Does anyone have a link to Ripsaw on the 36 mode? Would love to see it.

"You've just been detoxed by Ripsaw" is standard spiel, you'd be very unfortunate not to get it in the past few seasons, as basically all ops say it now! :)

Of course, there's also the matter of an 84, if you're lucky...

Out of interest, why have a sequence if it's unsafe for riders? (Not that I'd ride that thing anyway :p )

As others have mentioned there's 9 sequences on Ripsaw, with sequences 4-8 being used under normal operation. Manual operation isn't deactivated, the operator can use manual mode to park the gondola if required.

Last year, we got a sequence that had four consecutive flips. Any idea which program this is?

I'd only ever seen Ripsaw do a single flip per sequence before that which I think is a bit of a waste. Why have a topspin if you're not going to use it properly?

Coincidentally, sequence four is the one with four consecutive flips. The shortest commonly used sequence which is often used on busy days.

I've always been surprised with how quickly they move onto the shorter settings. Even if the queue is only a couple of cycles long you'd be lucky to get anything other than 4 or 5. I don't think I'd be alone in saying I'd rather wait a little longer for the better cycles.

It's always slightly annoyed me that Ripsaw doesn't have a single sequence that offers everything the ride is capable of. Prog. 4 has the spins but pretty much nothing else, p6 & 7 have the flyovers and also have (along with 5) the slow inversions where you're left hanging upside down with the gondola locked. If all three experiences could be offered by a single cycle Ripsaw would be a far better ride - something along the lines of prog 6, but with the 4 flips of p4.
