I can't decide whether you've got the joke or not
I did ask them if they were getting off but they blanked me and went for another spin.
Yeah that's odd...
If It's a joke I haven't noticed...
He's talking about the dummys on the back few rows
I think @Davezilla might be referring to the test dummies at the back of the trains. Correct me if I’m wrong on that?
Don’t worry @Skyscraper; it took me a minute, too!
EDIT: Beaten to it by @Thameslink Rail!
Ahhhh I see, LOL
I'm so stupid
Don’t beat yourself up about it; it took me a minute or two to get it too!
You're not stupid, I miss so many jokes on here
Anyway back to Th13teen Vs Wicker Man
Personally I prefer Wicker Man because it feels like a more rounded experience, it has a show and a well themed ride whereas Th13teen doesn't really have the same opportunity to expand the storyline. Th13teen is also quite hidden away and I prefer rides that are also a spectacle for non-riders.
Yeah sorry, serious talk now.
Wicker Man is the better ride for me, more interesting queue, nice pre show area, and the ride itself packs so much more of a punch. With Thirteen, even after not riding it for a few years, the drop section is so expected it doesn't have the same effect anymore. I also feel they could have put some theming in the tunnel. What is it with Towers and terrible tunnels?
And they're not wearing masks, any of them. Bang out of order if you ask me.
I’d be intrigued to know; in terms of anyone on here who voted for Thirteen out of the 2, why is it that you like Thirteen more? I’m not questioning you, as I can definitely see why someone might enjoy Thirteen more, but I’d just be very intrigued to know, as it does seem to be somewhat of a minority opinion; only 13.7% voted for Thirteen, while 86.3% voted for Wicker Man.
Why have the poll in the first place if you already think one is going to be more popular than the other?
This may answer your question. Our brains are wired up different and we all see things differently, hence why members always don't agree on here. What you see and feel may be different to someone else.
I inferred that preferring Thirteen was a minority opinion because that’s how the poll seems to have played out.
I know we all experience things differently, and I fully respect the opinion of people who prefer Thirteen; I was just intrigued to know why they might have the opinion they do, and what things they prefer about Thirteen.
Thirteen is ok. I feel is was such a let down considering all the hype they pumped into it.
The overall job on Wicker Man is fantastic though.
I think the pros and cons might solve this debate.
Pros- smooth, fast, decent airtime, snappy, best theming in uk, great story, pre show, overall experience, brilliant atmosphere
Cons- lacks force, some effects don't work
Pros- Great first drop, intense first helix, brilliant indoor section, decent theme and atmosphere
Cons- Queue is boring, outdoor section is average, marketing overhyped the ride
Contradicting yourself Ethan?
I suppose the pros & cons might also differ to different people, so I don’t think this is a battle that can be resolved quantitatively based on one person’s pros & cons, personally.
Personally, as much as I like Thirteen, I controversially wouldn’t call any part of the outdoor section particularly intense; I certainly find moments of WM such as the s-bend drop and final wicker man pass through far more intense than any bit of Thirteen, personally. Thirteen’s backwards section is admittedly surprisingly vigorous, as is the drop track, but I’d say that I personally find Wicker Man considerably more intense, on the whole. For that reason, I also personally wouldn’t say that Wicker Man lacks force in comparison to Thirteen, but each to their own, I guess!
I’ve also heard people make the argument that Thirteen is better themed than Wicker Man, so I don’t think we can necessarily assume that everyone likes Wicker Man’s theming more of the two.
Well the rest of the outdoor section except the first part
The fact that Thirteen is hidden away added to the mystery to me. Just seeing glimpses of it added to the suspense. It was the last rollercoaster addition by Merlin that managed to keep most of its secrets until opening day. While I do not share it personally, I understand the widespread disappointment after the marketing, however.
