Everyone loves a festive break at Alton Towers, but in 2008 even Santa and his Elves stayed over the resort when the Elves' Playground opened alongside Splash Landings.
During that year's Christmas event, a selection of rides from Cred Street operated in the car park between the hotels and monorail alongside the dodgems from Carters Steam Fair.
Elsewhere in the resort, Santa's Reindeer could be found in their stable in the Alton Towers Hotel garden, whilst the big man himself set up his grotto along the Woodland Walk.
The Driving School, Frog Hopper, Gallopers and Bouncing Bugs all found their way to the hotels for Christmas, whilst their regular home was transformed into Cloud Cuckoo Land. Indeed, it was in the Eleves Playground that the Bouncing Bugs operated was the final time.
