The Black Hole Tent, is a tent, located at the [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]] Resort. It is considered by many to be the most famous tent in the world.

== History ==
The tent was purchased by Charles Chetwynd-Talbot - son of John George Charles Henry Alton Alexander Chetwynd-Talbot, 21st Earl of Shewsbury and 6th Earl Talbot - (then aged 17) from Millets Camping Accessories in 1970, in order to attend that year's inaugural Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts. It is thought that after ingesting a large quantity of psychadelic mushrooms that weekend, the young Charles-Chetwynd decided to give the tent its original and distinctive green and yellow colour scheme, using organic body paint, made from crushed berries and cider. [[File:bhtent.jpg|230px|thumb|right|The tent's original psychadelic colour scheme]]

When Charles-Chetwynd returned home, he decided to retain the tent in the grounds of [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]]. Reports suggest that it was used as a place to "take girls, smoke dope, play guitar, listen to Bob Dylan and discuss all the amazing things you can do with hemp". However, as the future Earl began to grow up, his use of the tent diminished, until it was abandoned altogether in 1973.

The structure lay dormant until 1983, when [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]] - now a thirving theme park - decided to install their next big attraction in the tent. Speculation was rife among the newly formed "enthusiast community", who shared their ideas via letters, telegrams, smoke signals and pigeons. Alton eventually plumped for the only option available to them that did not involve "digging a 200ft deep pit and putting something in it", which turned out to be a Schwarzkopf Jet Star II model. The new ride - The Black Hole - drew in huge crowds. Many were left speechless, which was partly because most were expecting a circus and partly because of the infamous break run which was described by many as "like a punch in the gut".

While the ride was tinkered with, or renamed many, many times, the tent itself did not undergo any great changes until 1998, when it was repainted black (or a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very dark blue) in order to make it less visible to the Luftwaffe.

The glory days couldn't last however, and in 2005 disaster struck. The Black Hole came to a halt on its stupid, long, slow, spiralling lift hill. Alton of course, had not bothered to install the most basic of evacuation methods and everybody on board starved to death after 26 days of being stuck 34ft in the air. The ride was promptly closed, demolished and then shipped off to South America (or Eastern Europe - reports differ) where everybody knows that human life is disposable and therefore less health and safety restrictions are required.

== Future ==
As of 2013, the Black Hole Tent has been torn down. It has probably been burnt and the metal melted down. Some say the metal lives on in the spidery thing that may or may not appear with a certain new ride on the spot of the tent. In reality it was probably nicked by gypsies.

Delta79:

The '''Ban Stick''' (known as "'''Stick of Doom'''" by those who receive the wrath of it) is an ancient metaphorical, though sometimes real and pulsating, stick that is used to ban people from the TowersStreet Forum, quite simply. It must not be confused with the more contemporary '''Ban-Gavel''': a similar device but used by the Queen of the Wiki to ban people from her realm instead.

=== Reactions ===
If a member of the ADMINZAR team do caution that they are going to take out their ban stick, it is advisable that one remains quiet, ceases whatever action they were doing at the time (and also breathing), and backs away slowly. Continuation of threats should be taken seriously, and a recommendation to drop to your knees (although see exceptions below) and beg for forgiveness is advisable.

=== Exceptions ===
Exceptions to the rule are however that if a particular Mod or Admin threatens to get out his ban stick, you locate the nearest wall as fast as humanly possible and keep your back to it at all times until the threat has passed and another victim has been selected.

=== Usage ===
When used, the member concerned finds themselves exiled from any contribution for whatever time period has been defined at the time of use. Simples. *squeek*.

It is not unknown for bans to be handed out "for teh LOLz". If a member of the TST team threatens to ban someone in an obviously jokey way, it is still not recomended to call their bluff. These bans are often short term (one evening), but are no less deadly than a "real" ban, resulting in a black mark against your name on your "TST Permanent Record".

=== Grandeur ===
The ceremonial ban stick is kept in a gold and rhodium diamond encrusted and french velvet lined case, which remains in a secret location within the TowersStreet Ivory Towers. It is now only used for ceremonial banning rituals, such as the banning of a particular infamous member.

'''Towers Street''' is the magical and quirky themed entrance area at [[Alton Towers]], that visitors first come across at the resort and whom may come across a group of [[TowersStreet|excited and sanity waning enthusiasts]] in the process. It has a splendiferous view of the Towers Complex and lake (Where the [[Giant Squid]] resides) in the background, which marks the first question by anybody who hasn't seen the park before:

''Ain't that big castle [[Duel]] or summat?''

If that ill-read map comment is overheard by enthusiasts upon Towers Street, they will most likely facepalm in unison or laugh out loud. Or both! Depending upon the silliness at the time of happen-stance.

== The Area ==

=== Entertainment ===

==== The Leap Frog Fountains ====

A bit of history; the legendary '''Leap Frog Fountains''' that sit in the middle of Towers Street are indeed real frogs, disguised and claimed by the management of Alton Towers that they are fibreglass.

The Frogs have been living upon the area since the early 1800s, because the Earl secretly enjoyed the amusing nature of Frogs as well as flashy water fountains. The only obstacle was deciding who was most capable of constructing the fountain as [[Amanda Thompson|Mandy]] didn't exist at the time to create a <s>meh</s> spectacular fountain (She was born a year later), the Earl called in Pugin once more to trap the Frogs and mount them along funky brick patterns.

==== Characters ====

At certain times of the day, characters and mascots may spontaneously appear having apparated in from the areas of the park they may typically be found in... aside from those situated in [[Old MacDonald's Farm]], who have to walk. [[Mutiny Bay]] characters get to sail in by ships 'cause they can, but anyway.
=== The Faff Inducers ===

The high demand of visitors at Alton Towers over the past 30 years has called for the addition of eateries (Restaurants, cafes, vendors) and retail merchandise shops, strategically placed at the bottom of Towers Street so visitors and enthusiasts alike may [[Faff]] together in harmony before even beginning to queue. On the enthusiast's side, this may be caused by a Mod's love for latte and other coffee related beverages or a certain Award winning member just, y'know... faffin'.

High above the wonderful Storybook Land and kind of a bit above the edge bit of [[Old MacDonald's Farm|Old MacDonald's Farm]], is every enthusiast's dream ride, Squirrel Nutty, on which you actually don't even have to pedal yourself along. Fantastic!

[[File:NuttyWutty.JPG|300px|thumb|right|This ride will change your life. Forever...]]

It breaks several records such as the highest ride within either Storybook Land or <nowiki>Old MacDonald's Farm</nowiki> ever, fastest ride within either Storybook Land or <nowiki>Old McDonald's Farm</nowiki> ever, most squirrel orientated ride within either Storybook Land or Old McDonald's Farm ever and the only ride at [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]] that involves trees. Apart from [[Hex|Hex]]. And maybe sort of [[Th13teen|Th13teen]]. The [[The Flume|Log Flume]] used to be too. There may be others.

=== The Ride Experience ===

After being warned not to bang your head, you climb into your acorn, banging your head, then the acorn slides along the track. Is the acorn being pushed by the squirrel? This is unclear as we have no pre-show to explain the story of the ride, which is almost certainly the only bad thing about the whole experience.

You then go through a tunnel in a tree, which happens to have an ornamental window in it for some reason as well as hay lying around and then leave the tree tunnel with no change to your ride experience whatsoever. Apart from a draught.

On occasion, the ride cars differ in track space between one another, <s>always</s> normally creating an amusing spectacle for everyone in the area because either the cars are going too slow or a ride op got very bored. This mini incident may be caused by a small number of aged 15+ enthusiasts who together may create a particular heaviness, making the cars go slower than they're meant to.

Excitement on this ride hits its peak if you get to 'race a tractor', making Squirrel Nutty the closest we get to a racing coaster in the park (the fact that it's not a coaster is obviously outweighed by the fact the car racing themed ride doesn't actually race anything. The excitement on the ride hits another peak whenever the track goes down ever so slightly (as seen in the photo above) and does a few baby bunny hops towards the end; these were put in by the park just to make the little kiddies believe they were now on a 'fast paced' [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]] instead of a serene, up-in-the-<nowiki>air</nowiki> squirrel themed ride.

=== The Ride Reaction ===

A census poll was taken during the ride's opening season by families with children under the age of 12. Opinions were:

*''WOW. I had never raced a tractor before. My life has changed forever.''

*''I don't know what I liked better. The secret tree inversion or the little bunny hops!''

*''Heheh. Squirrel like nuts.''

*''Top hat FTFW... Wait, what's Squirrel Nutty?''

[[Fail|''"It's not exactly 'runaway', is it? It's still on the track, so really it should just be called Mine Train"'']] - Young visitor, circa Summer 2010

The '''Runaway Mine Train''' is situated in [[Katanga Canyon]] alongside [[Congo River Rapids]], and is themed around a... er.. non-existent mine.

Yes, it's quite evidential isn't it? By the name.

It is admired by both enthusiasts and all those who host and operate the ride during open season. It is in fact admired so much that a ride op coined the phrase ''Choo Choo!'' to signify the love and devotion given. The Runaway Train staff at [[Chessington World of Adventures]] have tried to steal this catchphrase, but thanks to the underground spies of [[Alton Towers]] stationed in Surrey, this has been amicably solved.

=== A Demi God's Undermined Creation ===

The ride's track and supports were hand built by [[Roland Mack]] himself, using nothing more than an arc welder and several tonnes of scrap metal. It was also assembled overnight by him, with a little help from [[John Wardley|John]] [[Wardley's Guns]]. It was then painted by the entire Mack family and staff at Alton Towers, meaning the ride was planned, constructed and operational in under a week. Whilst the train appears to be driven by an electrical system, it is in fact powered by magical forces (Good ones), which only [[Mack]] have truly harnessed for their wonderful needs as the world's best ride manufacturer.

To this day you wil be able to spot Roland's tell tale sign on each of the supports; The inscription ''Roland woz ere '92''. Over the years, the [[Chav]] population have added to this message with their own adaptations, completely overwhelmed by the power that Mack secretly included within the inscribe. However, it is [[God]]'s belief that this ruins the magic, so is always quick to respond with his trusty brush and tin of brown paint.

It is not widely known that the locomotive at the head of the RMT's composite (first AND third) class industrial-style rolling stock was formerly a genuine steam locomotive. Built at the turn of the 20th century by well known German engineering firm Orstein and Koppel, it was used on road construction projects across Germany until its replacement by diesel locomotives. It languished unused for several decades, until Mack discovered it in a sorry, derelict state. They restored it, fitting it with six castors in each corner in place of its wheels and valve gear, and it ran as a steam locomotive again for many years on Enzian at Mackland. Unfortunately, the locomotive's boiler suffered a couple of broken stays a year or two short of the expiry of its boiler certificate, and Mackland didn't consider the expense of repairing it worthwhile. It lay unused once more at the back of the Mack factory until the order for the RMT was placed, at which point the stricken locomotive was fitted with <s>an electric motor</s> a magic-to-kinetic energy converter and sent to the UK to thrill <s>railway enthusiasts</s> theme park visitors once more.

Rumour has it that at the same time a second, first class train was bought by Alton Towers for the new ride. This is thought to be a British Rail diesel locomotive that was withdrawn in 1990, as BR considered it to go too fast for a modern day rail network. Its rolling stock is reputedly also retired British Rail stock, fitted with luxurious Mack Flying Fish-style seating. It is rumoured to lurk within a secret chamber of the tunnel, and is brought out only on God's birthday, when one lucky enthusiast is given the opportunity to have the pleasure of riding alongside him.

This hidden beauty within the realms of Alton Towers has led to [[TowersStreet]] nicknaming RMT ''Roland's Love Train''.

''Choo Choo!''

=== Scandal and Rumours ===

It has been agreed by many fans that the ride is essentially [[Th13teen]] without the 'freefall drop' towards the end. Some believe RMT is just better than Th13teen because of this one little extra. And in [[Closed Season]] 2008 legend, it has been rumoured that TH13TEEN is the RMT and [[Frog Hopper]]'s love child; sadly neither ride has commented on this.

The '''Chav''' is a species of human being that is commonly found in cities, towns and theme parks. Members of the Chav race can often be distinguished from ordinary people by their choice of vocabularly, earings, cigarettes and the tendancy to call everybody they pass by on the street a "gayboy".

Chavs make up 78.6% of the General Public, and are the most successful species of human (Probably because of their inability to control their breeding habits). They often avoid the [[Alton Towers]] smoking ban because they think they are cool. Another popular habit is to spit at people from high places, showing off their saliva glands to the to attract a mate.

However, a Chav tends to be rather friendly and therefore most vulnerable when alone or with parents. It's best to catch them in this situation in order to gently converse. This may result in the Chav having an epiphany and change in lifestyle, depending on how you talk to them. An extreme example is switching from being a 'hard man' to 'softly spoken gentleman'.

== Dealing With Chavs ==

Chavs are a tricky race to deal with and can unexpectedly draw the average man, woman or TSTer into their clutches. The most common phrase to be repeated when one or one's friend is caught in this situation is "''Remain Calm''" but how to deal with the problem is most touchy and careful so to make a wrong move will cause terrible consequences.

==== In Reality ====

If you come across a Chav and the hoarde it has gathered, then:

* Keep a good distance away.
* Do not 'tut'.
* Do not say anything in their presence.
* Do not make eye contact.
* Walk away quickly from the area.

==== At Theme Parks ====

Chavs sadly do exist at our local leisure, amusement and theme parks, visiting either because a 'fast and wikid' ride is in their interest or because they wish to heckle the General Public by:

* [[Queues|Queue]] jumping
* Smoking
* Spitting gum and/or saliva
* Littering
* Being 'ard man innit

Two common examples of theme parks that Chavs aim to desecrate are Alton Towers and [[Thorpe Park]], both vastly different in market and ride lineup. Although Thorpe Park is more up 'da' street for Southern Chavs with having 'fast and wikid mint' thrill rides that suit their bragging skills, a minor amount will be willing to travel longer to meet their Midland relatives for a day out at Alton Towers.

Chavs tend to be more at home at Thorpe Park because the staff understand their needs for domination, loud chart music, a lack of theming and a map only they would be proud of showing off to their 'mates'. There is normally nothing to be done about avoiding Chavs at Thorpe unless you went on a really quiet day, otherwise you're stuffed on a busy day when you're stuck between two groups of the race in a 2 hour queue for either [[Colossus]], [[SAW: The Ride]] or [[Stealth]]. The claustrophobia will automatically worsen when the ride breaks down. It is heavily advised you think through your decisions before queueing on a busy day.

Meanwhile at Alton Towers, Chavs have to try harder to win their dominance within the park as it is a family resort, meaning innocent sprogs are running about with their possibly dangerous parents as well as enthusiasts such as [[TowersStreet|TST]], who can easily block the queues by linking arms and stop a Chav or even a group from queue jumping. Most Chavs are seen lingering around [[Rita]], [[Congo River Rapids]] where they tend to stand up, [[Air]] where they collonise on the breakrun (Spitting amongst other things) and [[Nemesis]], where particularly on the latter, a group will argue that "''dis is not da real Nemezis, da real one is at Thorpe, I saw dat last week innit so dey shud rename it''" before attempting to chuck their empty bottles through the loop 'for da lolz'.

The main Chav grounds within both theme parks are Burger King and KFC, both of which can be avoidable if the General Public are smart enough to head for less grease worthy eateries. You can recognise a group of Chavs in a fast food place simply by the amount of chairs missing and speed of the staff working behind the counter.

=== Useful Phrases ===

*Brrrap brrrap, innit!
*Innit, blad!
*Innit, breadbins!
*I is well 'ard, innit!
* Keep a good distance away.
* Do not 'tut'.
* Do not say anything in their presence.
* Do not make eye contact.
* Walk away quickly from the area.

==== At Theme Parks ====

Chavs sadly do exist at our local leisure, amusement and theme parks, visiting either because a 'fast and wikid' ride is in their interest or because they wish to heckle the General Public by:

* [[Queues|Queue]] jumping
* Smoking
* Spitting gum and/or saliva
* Littering
* Being 'ard man innit

=== Useful Phrases ===

*Brrrap brrrap, innit!
*Innit, blad!
*Innit, breadbins!
*I is well 'ard, innit!
*Wikid! ''(Considered by many chavologists to be an invalid Chav phrase because of the absence of the word "innit")''
*Leg it ta [[Rita]], innit! It's well sick, blud!
*You f*****, s*** l**** r*****ing, innit!
*Let wu' go then, innit! ''(Generally only heard in locations "oop North" of England)''

'''<nowiki>Hex</nowiki> - The Legend of The Towers''' (often simply called '''<nowiki>Hex</nowiki>''') is a [[Vekoma]] [[Mad House]] at [[Alton Towers]], which situates itself somewhere in the Towers complex where not many people can find it and thus makes it one of the most underrated and ignored rides on park. It is known for blurring the lines between excellent and terrible effects both aurally and visually, as well as spooking, confusing, amazing and annoying visitors.

== Planning and Construction ==

[[Tussauds]] needed a new interesting dark ride after going for 6 years without building one, and so asked the holy [[John Wardley]] to create (or steal) a new ride concept. After much brainstorming, he found that the rich ponce Talbot family who used to own the Towers estate had been cursed at some point in the 1800s after the 18th Earl of Shrewsbury didn't pay his tax and some local tree was cursed by the government to kill off his family for revenge. So <nowiki>John Wardley</nowiki> took the idea and visited the tree, proclaiming it was alright and went off to soup up the story.

Because <nowiki>Tussauds</nowiki> could not get permission to actually build the ride in the Towers complex, they had to rent a tarpaulin from the local garden centre and camouflaged it in with the ruins themselves (See: [[Ninja]]), completely succeeding with baffling visitors. The ride itself, a <nowiki>Vekoma</nowiki> <nowiki>Mad House</nowiki> was chosen at random out of a tombola by <nowiki>John Wardley</nowiki> (in fact, the ride ended up being a pirate ship INSIDE a tombola) and was then dipped in the ink of squeezed Gothic books to make it look 'spooky', then installed in the tarpaulin to look like it had been there the entire time. The famed Octagon room just happened to look like that at the time of finding. Including the blatantly obvious dummy under the white sheet.

Finally, a few wires were sellotaped together to control the effects. <del>Occasionally</del> Quite often, these wires become unstuck and it takes several weeks for new sellotape to be ordered to stick them back together again, resulting in the audio effects being too loud or too quiet, the effects in the octagon to be operated at random, and/or the projector to mysteriously change direction.

== Storyline ==

At some point in the 1800s, the 18th Earl of Shrewsbury was returning home to <nowiki>Alton Towers</nowiki> after a banquet at Weatherspoons one stormy evening and a government man disguised as a old crone was standing in the middle of the road.

*Earl: WTF you doin' on the road, crazy bint?
*Crone: Gimme your money plskthnx.
*Earl: Ahahahahah. No.
*Crone: I'm government, ya git, tax. Oh and I curse a local tree.
*Earl: Oh shiz.

Pathetic fallacy arrived and a Pikachu accidentally electrocuted the tree, making a branch fall off. Meanwhile at <nowiki>Alton Towers</nowiki>, a member of the Earl's family suddenly and mysteriously... '''DIED'''. This made the Earl mad about not paying tax and so wrapped the tree in duct tape because it was the only thing he could be bothered to use.

Cue the [[Smugshot]].

But then the Earl got bored of nobody dying and so put the [[Fallen Branch]] on eBay to see if any bidder would buy to pay for his tax to vanquish the curse. Somebody probably did bid on it and that's the last of the story.

Originally, the story was about some professor person who was giving a boring lecture about the Towers ruins and that the visitors got trapped inside the vault from the storm of Pikachus outside. Unfortunately nobody understood this and so the current story was instead used because it actually made some sense, thus calling for a rushed and stupidly melodramatic voiceover by Peter Dickinson.

== Ride experience ==

You enter the queueline through the Towers ruins, where you walk in a zigzag past old history artefacts and broken televisions. A certain number of people go onto the ride, the first part being the pre-pre-show where a portrait of the 18th Earl is shown for dramatic effect. You then enter another room, the pre-show where a Crimewatch re-enactment is shown on a broken projector of the Earl meeting the Government Crone.

You then enter the Octagon room where the music is played either really loud or really low, the special effects do or don't work and a broken television flickers. There is also a broken <nowiki>air</nowiki> con which doubles as a really bad wind machine. You then go down some very long corridors for dramatic effect where you wait for 15 minutes because the ride usually fails before you get to ride it.

You then enter the vault where the thing you're sitting on swings up and down whilst the set thing behind you revolves somewhat, and towards the end you see some random tree demon thing at the top of the ceiling. Nobody still knows what this is all about. You then leave the ride feeling either satisfied or confused by the experience. Riders exit into Her Ladyship's Gardens, located in the middle of nowhere, to confuse the mind even more.

== Reception ==
The ride has recieved mixed reviews. Most <nowiki>Alton Towers</nowiki> enthusiasts regard <nowiki>Hex</nowiki> as a "classic" attraction for its mysterious and unique qualities; they often express their approval by listening to the theme tune several times before going to sleep or writing [[haikus]] about it. However, members of the general public are usually heard to give such statements as "Huh?", "Umm" and "Innit" upon exiting the ride.

== Future plans ==

<nowiki>Alton Towers</nowiki> announced on the 31st June 2010 that the whole Towers complex will be removed at the end of 2012 to make way for the [[Sw7|SW7]] project. Shortly after this announcment, a planning application was submitted for a giant you-know-what shaped station building on the site of <nowiki>Hex</nowiki>. Although <nowiki>Alton Towers</nowiki> are yet to confirm exactly what <nowiki>SW7</nowiki> will be, it is now highly rumoured to be a [[rollercoaster]] named "THE FLYING KINKONATOR!!", as suggested by a [[chav]] on the <nowiki>Alton Towers</nowiki> Facebook page. A spokesperson for the ''Official Towers Times Forum Decisions Society'' (OTTFDS) released the following statment: "We have contacted the United Nations about the future plans of <nowiki>Hex</nowiki> and, after much discussion, every country involved agreed to declar nuclear war on the [[Marketing_department|marketing department]] as soon as <nowiki>Hex</nowiki> is [[Closed|closed]]. This way, we hope, the "FLYING KINKONATOR!!" will never be built; and we can all die whilst hugging/kissing/loving the <nowiki>fallen branch</nowiki>."
'''Revenge of the Mummy''' is located in Orlando, far away from the safety of [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]].

It is an indoor [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]]. There is a great queue line that is well themed and parts of it are <s>scary</s>.

The ride had a good storyline and one of the main themes that comes through is that the ride wants to remove your eyebrows. It does this a couple of times with large amounts of fire. Protective head gear is recommended for this ride.

The [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]] section of the ride is excellent and there are some good drops and turns in it, sadly this ride does not go upside down. The ride reaches speeds of up to about 45MPH.

One member of each group must remember to take a cup of coffee with them every time they go on this ride.

A single riders queue is available and it seems that no one knows about it. It is great if you just want to keep running round to whore the ride.
The team shamelessly accepted bribes (mostly crude polaroid snaps of [[John_Wardley|John Wardley's]] bum), in return for removing any vaguely accurate information from the boards of TTF.

Ultimately however, all original plans were scrapped when 'an old [[Castle|castle]] thing' sprung up overnight on the ground previously home to the [[Corkscrew|Corkscrew]] (the <nowiki>'castle'</nowiki> is rumoured to have fallen out of a rider's pocket back in 1987, owing to the appalling lack of bag storage available, and simply nobody had noticed until now). Engineers decided to just build a bit of track, and feed it into the '<nowiki>castle</nowiki> thing' and see what happened. As it turns out, an elevator-like device gingerly lowered riders into the world's first crypt paradoxically located on the ground floor of a structure.
Opinions generally ranged from "Yeah, quite good. Bit short though" to "Yeah, I really enjoyed it... but it was a bit short". The day was overshadowed however, when [[John_Wardley|John Wardley]] was kidnapped by a crowd of 'enthusiasts', after uncharacteristically deciding to go for a walk without an armed guard. The ride experience of <nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki> has been described as having "more trims than a mens' barber shop on a Saturday morning" as well as being "a rollerskate around the woods, then finishing with a Tower Of Terror imitation drop". <nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki> has recently been experiencing persistent technical issues. Shockwave opened in 1994 as Europe's first stand up coaster. Since then, other parks have been literally falling over themselves to avoid adding one of their own. Shockwave is unique amongst coasters in that construction began from the station in both directions with the intention of meeting up in the middle. Unfortunately the park ran out of money half way though construction, and was forced to build a long straight section of track to connect the two sections.

Delta79: General tidying and removing unneccessary links (and adding new Wraith one). A PAGE DOESN'T NEED LINKS TO ITSELF M'KAY!!!???!!!

Thirteen (or <nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki>... or 13.... or Thir13teen... or ThFAILteen... or ThThirteenteen... or Th14teen) is currently considered the best [[roller coaster]] in the world, just above the acclaimed X:\WTF at [[Thorpe_Park|Thorpe Park]], and Gouderix at Parc Asterix in France. It's situated in the [[Dark Forest|Intamin Forest]] at [[Alton Towers]].

== Construction ==

It was constructed personally by [[John Wardley]] out of whatever scarce resources were available at the time (namely optimism, hyperbole, bits of old fluff, PVA glue and some steel that was pinched from a skip round the back of [[Drayton_Manor|Drayton Manor]] - rumour has it this was earmarked for their long rumoured 'Blue Fire type thingy', plans which have consequently been put on hold while they build a hotel that approximately nobody will ever feasibly use). [[John|John Wardley]] then set about building what [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]]' [[Marketing_department|marketing department]] dubbed, "every [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]] you've ever dreamed of... after eating too much cheese."

The construction of <nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki> was shrouded in mystery. So much so, that a mass grave was excavated on-site early on, to [[File:Th13teenhole.jpg|thumb|right|The mass grave used to dispose of those who threatened to reveal Thirteen's secrets]] bury anyone who dared reveal the secrets of 'SW6' to the rabid 'enthusiast community'. It was during this phase, that [[Alton Towers]] colluded with 'Team TT' to keep the masses ignorant... sort of like communism.

== Opening ==

Skip forward to March 20th 2010 and Thir13irteen opened to great fanfare. Poor weather and even the presence of Jonathan Ross failed to dampen spirits. [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]]' marketing team (often mistaken for mythical '[[Wraiths]]') were quick to seek out public opinion of the new ride. His whereabouts remain unknown...

The ride experience of <nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki> has been described as having "more trims than a mens' barber shop on a Saturday morning" as well as being "a rollerskate around the woods, then finishing with a Tower Of Terror imitation drop". Oxford University's top linguistic experts are still working round the clock to de-code this sentence, to establish whether the quoted person enjoyed or hated the experience of <nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki>.

== Technical Difficulties ==

[[Th13teen|Th13teen]] has recently been experiencing persistent technical issues. These have been initially addressed by imposing a strict weight limit on the trains - a move which has caused Theme Park Review to cancel their planned trip to [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]] this Summer, after a suggestion of eating fewer burgers was unanimously vetoed.

See also: [[Dedicated Trackside Flux Sensor]]

== [[The_Marmite_Ride|The Marmite Ride]] ==
<nowiki>Th13teen</nowiki> - proclaimed as "<nowiki>The Ultimate</nowiki> [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]]" - has unfortunately divided opinions between anyone who has or hasn't ridden it, thus creating tension and worldwide backlash. The main reasons as to this divide in many communities is the way the [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]] was marketed (as a thrill ride, when in fact it was meant for families), and the ride experience itself with the 'OHAI GUYZ' first free-falling drop.

Thus this has now coined the phrase, [[The Marmite Ride]] because it is either loved and adored, pampered and made delicate like a Ming vase... or despised, spat on, kicked and regularly picked on. You could say it's the reason why it has so many technical delays, unlike [[Air]] who just has massive hissy fits.

''(Graciously stolen from Unencyclopedia. Thanks!)''

'''Geldaland/Obditude''' is a park in Chertsey, near Mongolia so care must be taken when driving to the park. It is suggested that all car doors and windows locked and all limbs to be kept inside the car at all times. It was built in 1979 on the site of a cesspit which was partially flooded to make the park smaller. The park's first large [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]], Lolossus, was added in 2002 and to this day has had nearly a whole hours worth of maintenance .

*Location: United Kingdom
*Operating Season: Who cares, it's rubbish anyway!
*Rides Open: Once a Century. (Stealth open one morning in June if no repair work is needed)
*Area: 3,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 inches
*Rides: [[Nemesis|Nemesis]] Instupendo, Humdinger, Rushed, XXX, For the lossus, Bore-tex, Shamurai, Health, Drybina Slumba Cr*pids, Snore: Alive and SORE: the ride.
*Slogan: ''Join the queue for real fun!''
*Mission: To provide the UK's worst day out!

==History==
[[Image:Xcolonbackslash.jpg|right|thumb|X:\No Way Out was originally named because the attraction was so messed up that people had trouble finding the way out. The Way Out was eventually located and now the attraction is better known as X:\WTF]]
The park was opened in 1979 by Henry VIII shortly after he killed his 4th wife. The main attraction at the time was the first catapult attraction in the UK, where small cats were launched from rubber bands into the surrounding cesspit. Other early attractions include ''XXX:\What The F*&#'' and ''Tidal Wave'' (known as Titanic at that time). Both these rides continue to stand (but not always operate) to this day.

Shortly after the park's opening it sought to compete with Brighton Pier's ride prices on food alone (luckily rides didn't cost per ride) they were just £300.00 for unlimited rides (well the open ones) as for Brighton Pier's £2000.00 per ride charge.

==Creche Service==
There is a creche service available. To access the park's child care facilities simply give each child £60 and send them to a drink vending machine and then leave. Your children can be picked up from the [[Lost|lost]] and found office conveniently located by the park exit at the end of the day.

==Food and Drink==
[[Image:Thorpeparkpizzahut.jpg|right|thumb|Thorpe Park's Pizza Hut buffet is a popular spot for food and drink]]
Refreshments are a little on the pricey side at £60 per bottle of water, but that is a small price to pay to stop kidney failure due to dehydration.

All the usual fast food outlets are present, ranging from KFC to [[Nemesis|Nemesis]] Nosh.
The staff are friendly for Londoners and remember, unless you want special sauce, do not engage in laughing at their low-income jobs until after you receive your food.
Normally the best time to go ride the rides is at lunch time when all the fat people are feeding.

==Attractions==
===Port Atlantis===
The main attraction of this large pointless dome is the bar. This is an essential part of every visit as a crafty shot of cheeky Vimto in between every ride makes for a more interesting day. Anything takes the edge off the freezing temperatures of a hot English summer.

===Amity Cove===
[[Image:Thorpe-amitycove.jpg|left|thumb|Thorpe Park is well known for its cleanliness and upkeep]]
The main attraction in Amity Cove is Tidal Wave, built in 1827 and shipped over from France. It is an old favourite. The ride takes riders 100 feet in the [[Air|air]] and drops them into a slightly damp sponge far below.
For those of you that don't want to risk piles from walking around in damp thongs all day a 0.5 watt heater/dryer is available for £30 a minute.

===Stealth===
Thorpe Park's biggest attraction, <s>HUMDINGER</s> Stealth can be found here but since it is stealthy it is not easy to find. Stealth is a pioneering new rubber band launch hyper-active disorder coaster that takes 60mg of Ritalin before shooting riders out of the station several inches inches into the sky. A common misconception is that the ride travels 0-80 in under 2 seconds. This is actually referring to the queue time. If you need to find the maintenance team (a man called Bob) he can normally be found scratching his head while looking at the rubber bands under this ride. A common failure of the ride is rollback, which is caused by a lot of fat b*s*a*d* sitting towards the back of the train. This then results in the fat people being ejected from the park and the slightly less weighty ones get another ride without having to queue.
The ride comes to a disappointing ending as the ride takes 17 seconds to finish and the lap restraints take 17 minutes.

===[[Lost|Lost]] City===
The [[Lost|Lost]] City is a hard place to write about and an even harder place to find (which is why its hard to write about).
When you finally find the [[Lost|Lost]] City it is worth the hunt because there is:

*Zodiac, a roundabout
*Rush, a swing
*Vortex, a roundabout sellotaped to a swing

And Colossus, the park's first real [[roller coaster]]. Built in 2002 by [[Roller coaster#Intamin|Intamin]], a company notable for creating unreliable (and dangerous) rides, Colossus is the worlds first money extraction coaster, and has been cleverly designed to remove all your spare change, body piercings, belly button fluff, internal organs and small children from your possession. To save money, the park maintenance team (Bob) has removed all the wheels from this ride to save greasing the bearings. The sound of grinding metal can be heard all over London, even above the constant sound of gun shots. Colossus is more commonly known as either lolossus, colossucks or for-the-lossus

No: Way Out To Sex was originally designed to disappoint guests and make them leave thinking about how much time they wasted in the queue. It is located in a pyramid so guests cannot see how poor the ride actually is and will still waste their time standing in a long queue to experience a piece of crap, this is obvious by the guests' disappointed looks as they exit the pyramid and remarks such as " it was sh*t"

===Calypso Quay===

====[[Nemesis|Nemesis]]====
''[[Nemesis|Nemesis]] Inferior'' is an attempt to make a ride like [[Nemesis|Nemesis]] at [[Alton Towers]]. The designers failed to top the reputation of the original [[Nemesis|Nemesis]], but at least it was still better than Infusion at [[Mandyland]]. If you have back problems, heart conditions, intoxication, impotency, or old age, this is the ideal ride for you. [[Nemesis|Nemesis]] leaves the station then enters a cave of dry ice to fuck up any asthmatics, then it does something else and then returns back to the station. This is the longest ride in the park and takes a staggering fifteen seconds to complete the circuit.

The main similarities of this ride to the [[Nemesis|Nemesis]] in [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]] (besides the name) is the teenage, pregnant, spotty staff, which I am assured that they have all attended the two hour course on advanced [[roller coaster]] operation procedures and checking safety belts.

====Detonator====
Just outside the KFC take-away is every anorexic's favorite ride, Detonator.
This one hundred foot high stomach pump is designed to help even the fattest of fatties lose weight. It is fun for all the family.
Everyones flab goes flying!
[[Image:Thorpeparkdetonatorqueue.jpg|left|thumb|Sometimes the lines get so long that the wait time doesn't fit on the sign, resulting in the park switching to using hexadecimal. Hint: dd = 221]]

====Rumba Rapids====
After a hectic day, what's better than to hide in a wet and dark cave?
Ensure you don't lift an arse cheek off the seat as the staff won't hesitate to scream at you over a nearby speaker.
Rumba Rapids and all the park's water rides pump their water fresh from the cesspit surrounding the park, to ensure you still have that Thorpe Park Smell weeks after your visit.

====Other rides====
"Time Voyagers"- A "4D" "film" where you are sprayed with dirty lake water and have [[Air|air]] blown in your face. Guests often respond with their own "4D effects" by launching various projectiles at the screen and staff members.

===Canada Creek===
Canada Creek is another "themed" section of the park. Among its rides are a log flume that breaks down regularly, resulting in long lines, a train ride that no longer goes anywhere at all significant, and Slammer, a ride that was notable for causing extreme shoulder pain (among other pain), burst vanes in the heads and leaving riders stranded upside down.

====SORE: The Ride====
[[Image:ThorpeParkMill.jpg|right|300px|thumb|SAW: The Ride is Thorpe Park's latest ride]]
SAW: The Ride is Thorpe Park's latest and greatest [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]]. In keeping with Thorpe Park's tradition, it broke down during the celebrity preview event and again during its opening day.

Riders are tested by Jigsaw to see how long they can stay in the queue whilst the ride shuts down every 10 minutes.

===Neptune's Kingdom===
Another pointless attraction from the days before rides were invented is the beach.
The beach is a Plaster of Paris mock up of a beach, complete with realistic water, sharp shells and sharks.
What better way to spend the day after paying the price of a small London apartment to enter the park, than to sit on a pretend beach?

WARNING: Do not attempt to make any mobile phone calls while on the beach, the staff will accuse you of trying to take pictures of little kids.

===Virtual Q===
Another new attraction to this park is the Virtual Q, in which you join a long queue line that goes right around the park. Every few hours, riders get to see a sign saying things like two hours from this point, until they leave the queue line back they started. Hours of fun for everyone.

===Fastrack===
Another of Thorpe Park's ingenious ways of skipping the queues which last longer than the queue boards care to say, is fastrack. There are many different fastrack packages available from as little as just £3,000,000. And for this lifetime investment of money you get the fantastic opportunity to skip a wopping 3 seconds of queueing time for rides which you've ridden 1,264 times before. Guaranteed to make you broke, though most of Thorpe's guests find this a reasonable price to pay.

===Single Rider Queue===
Thorpe Park is the ideal place to go if you are single, smell of BO (although those with BO will be banned from the park if caught or just have no friends). People socially challenged can get to jump the queue line. Fans of the rides (most of them homeless) use this to ride the same ride over and over again. It was reported that many single rider whoring fanboys have died of shock after Thorpe Park realised its guests were too fat from the vomit they offer to shove down their guests mouths for lunchtime for the exit to handle having a single rider queue. However realising this Thorpe Park have added a Single Rider Queue for the Flying Fish, meaning that parents who allow their children to go off for a nice ride on their own are inevitably horrified to find their offspring sat next to a rather dodgy looking theme park enthusiast. Terrifying small children by using this method is not reported to be compulsory, but most of the people who would actually choose to single rider the Flying Fish have a natural gift for this anyway.

==New for 2010==
To attract as many chavs to the park as possible, Thorpe Park have advertised a new attraction for 2010. Named 'The Big Erection', in an attempt to make all the internet-obsessed brats on Facebook laugh, the attraction consists of a real shark shoved into the side of a KFC building. Bob, manager of the Disappointment Department at Thorpe Park, stated: "We are pleased to announce that we will be scamming billions of chavs by advertising our Big New Erection as a ride, when in fact we found the shark dumped in one of the toilets during our 50-yearly clean. We hope that all the vandals who flock to the only part of the park where they feel at home, KFC, will notice the shark and try and set it on fire so that we don't have to." The attraction is named 'The Big Erection' because the uptuned tail of the shark sticking out of the building 'looks lak a pay-ness!' according to a passing imbecile.

Also new for 2010 is the new 'SORE: Alive' horror maze opening next to SORE: The Ride. Visitors are tested to see how long they can stay in a cattle-pen queueline, estimated to gain up to 560 hours once the chavs hear about it; until they are finally lead on to an old boat that Thorpe Park found rotting in the lake. Scenes in the maze include the park's actual oldest toilet which has been freshly pissed all over as part of Thorpe Park's competition to find the smelliest excrement, a room where a man whose intestines are showing sits up a bit, then lies back down again and a room where people that look like they've tried to eat red face-paint grab your leg. Jigsaw from the SORE movie franchise tells those who queued to get on the boat that he "wants to play a game". He plays a version of Truth or Dare in which he chooses whether to force them to go on Colossus or make them queue up again. Bob, Head of Disappointment, said: "The purpose of SORE: Alive is merely to watch all the idiots who gave us their money get raped at the end."

==Fright Nights==
Special nights are held every year called Fright Nights, where Bob sits down and tells everyone just how little work he does and points out general important repairs he can't be arsed to do. The evening finishes off with a terrifying ride on the ever decaying Colossus which leaves guests feeling as though they've been hit with a giant hammer about 12 times.
Thorpe park has 'mazes' on fright nights in which they attempt to scare and disturb people, especially children. They attempt this by placing actors around in the mazes that ARE allowed to touch you but YOU are not allowed to touch them other wise they'll shout out 'rape'. We didn't really find it that scary but it was disturbing when they come up to you and try to hump you to death but you can avoid this by shouting 'fuck off you jew'. People regularly suffer heart attacks or die in these attractions, if this happened the usual procedure is to slide the body through the maze and dump it at the end.

For 2009, Thorpe Park are making the park scarier by challenging you to wait all night for Saw to be back in operation while someone steals/attempts to steal your car.

==Marketing==

Thorpe Krap is well known for its many marketing scams, such as the recent 'Say No to BO'. This was introduced after the park decided all it's guests smelt bad. The result was that raising arms on rides may have result in <s>Rape</s> being ejected from the park. This backfired and resulted in every guest flinging their arms everywhere to escape back to [[Chessington World of Adventures]] (AND ZOO!!!!11!!1) where they were all locked in Bubbleworks.

Efteling - in the country of Hol-land-land-land - is a theme park based around fairy tales you would see in those Ladybird books as a 5 year old, like Snow White or Hansel and Gretel, with some excellent theming that would have you convinced you'd been transported into said Ladybird books.

[[File:Efteling.jpg|thumb|right|Do not trust this red mascot, he'll steal your Dutch change]]

== History ==

Once upon a time in 1952, a strange Dutch illustrator by the name of Anton Pieck was walking through the Dutch forest whilst coming home from a Belgian Chocolate Convention, seeing as back in those days only feet were transport in Holland. Somewhere amonst the whimsical, expressionistic trees and evidently-not-real-mushrooms, he found himself in a Fairy-Tale setting surrounded by fairies, elves, goblins and other strange things he would find in fairy tale books.

Amazed by the epic details that the creatures had done in the Forest (see the change in the caps lock?), Pieck made a deal to the whimsical creatures that if they helped develop his zany drawings and illustrations into pure theme park rides and rollercoasters, he would give them 50% of the profit.

Fair and square, Pieck up until his retirement in 1974 supplied the fairies and goblins his blueprints for rides through a underground tube system, soon letting his protege [[VAN|Van]] de Ven de [[VAN|Van]] de Ven carry on the magic with his unique rides ideas.

In short and simple terms, actual fairy tales physically built the theme park.

== Rides and Roller Coasters ==

It is known for the various, creepy yet whimsical dark rides and roller coasters which don't come across so much as thrilling, because it's a fairy tale theme park. Since when did fairy tales have roller coasters involved? Did YOU ever see Red Riding Hood ride a generic [[B and M|B&M]] flying coaster? No. Did Cinderella's Prince Charming ever think to let planning permission for a [[Maurer Söhne]] spinning coaster just across the field from his [[Castle|castle]]? I don't think so. Was Ali-Baba ever interested in trying a Disk-O? Oh wait, that's not even a [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]]!

Here is a list of Efteling's most well known rides:
[[File:Vogel_rok.jpg|thumb|left|CAAAAAW I is a majikul bierdah!]]
*Bird/Vogel Rok - A better dark [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]] version of X:/WTF at [[Thorpe Park]] that goes forward.
*Carnaval Festival - A dark ride with garish, psychedelic colours and whimsical-overload characters, aka [[Mind-F**k]]
*De Vliegende Hollande/The Flying Dutchman - A dark water coaster ride which is about a haunted pirate ship... but in a building?!
*Droomvluct/Dreamflight - A dark car ride filled with annoying fairies and a hypnotic soundtrack. Nobody has ever completed a full circuit on this ride without falling asleep.
*Fata Morgana - A dark boat ride for all the family to enjoy - with added torture scene.
*Joris en de Draak - A duelling woodie which has recently replaced another woodie, Pegasus, differing only with an epic dragon animatronic and another 'duelling' track.*
*Pagode - A random observation tower which on the floor looks like a indoor spinning ride, but is in fact a trapping place for those with Vertigo.
*Python - A [[Vekoma]] Double-Loop [[Corkscrew|Corkscrew]] [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]], which isn't even themed like a flipping snake.
*Spookslot - A Haunted [[Castle|Castle]] dark ride, haunted by the ghost of Kate Bush and her dancing in the "Wuthering Heights" music video.
*Villa Volta - A [[Vekoma]] [[Mad House]], with a plot about a man who forgot to pay his insurance.

<s>*By the way, have you noticed that with 'duels', dragons are regularly used? -cough- [[Islands of Adventure]] -cough-</s>

== The Environment ==

Because the trees are so useful at hiding their rides and roller coasters, Efteling does not feel the need to cut any down and so are essentially foreign tree-huggers.
But this is partially hypocritical for recently they tore down Pegasus, a wooden [[Roller_coaster|roller coaster]] for another duelling wooden coaster by the name of Joris en de Draak (George and the Dragon) featuring an epic dragon animatronic hiding somewhere. What they could have done is just added a second track to Pegasus and the epic dragon animatronic, so then wood didn't have to be pulled down for another piece of wood to be put there.

Currently people are debating if the wood for Pegasus should be recycled or be used as firewood for the local elves and goblins who live in the Fairy-Tale Forest, a walk-through with <s>blatantly obvious animatronics</s> authentic fairy tale creatures.

'''Chessington World of Adventures''' is a Southern theme park and zoo in England, which has been proven to be a much better theme park than [[Thorpe Park]], [[Legoland]] and [[Paultons Park]] due to the consistent lack of [[Chav|chavs]], actually good rides and for being developed in the late 1980s by [[John Wardley]]. Chessington is widely known for it's stereotypically themed lands such as Mystic East, Forbidden Kingdom, Mexicana, Pirates Cove and to a large extent, Transylvania. This is typically highlighted by theming, music and ride announcements.

== History ==

Before the park existed, the Burnt Stub Mansion had been there for 3,000 years. It's not very interesting so that point won't be developed.
Sometime later, a man found potential in the empty land in Chessington and decided to build a zoo with a [[Circus|child scaring facility]] in order to gain lots of monies. Soon everybody was flocking to Chessington because of the animals and to potentially scar their children for the rest of their lives.

A few years after [[Tussauds|Tussauds]] bought it, the park became disinteresting because everybody had seen the animals at least 600 times before, and well clowns are just scary. So what they did was call in [[John Wardley]] to take a look around and make a miracle of the park. He did. And the heavens rejoiced!

This involved the creation of [[The Fifth Dimension]], [[Vampire]], [[Bubbleworks|Professor Burps Bubbleworks]] and many other rides that had the public once again flocking in large numbers, proving an excellent success. Sadly though, [[The_Fifth_Dimension|The Fifth Dimension]] was changed into [[Terror Tomb]] in 1994, which is now [[Terror Tomb|Tomb Blaster]] and Bubbleworks was rethemed from a pop drink factory into a Cussons Product Whore factory.

== Modern Day ==

The most recent land added to Chessington is Wild Asia, based around a wild form of Asia with snakes and pretty birds here and there to make it more 'exotic'. In the middle of the themed area are two enlarged Arboks stuck together, the Pokemon are forcefully attached to a Disk-O coaster taken all the way from [[Paultons Park]], which spins up and down whilst on the same track altogether making a boring and time-wasting experience for none of the family to enjoy. Unfortunately, many believe this is a [[roller coaster]] when in fact it is not, and it is simply a ride that happens to be on a track.

Currently in the Vampire queueline, there stands a "Evil Satan [[Minions|Minion]] National Park" which is situated next to the very popular mid-queue shop. This is the reason as to why it takes so long to board Vampire. In order to keep minion numbers down, Chessington have situated clones of [[Abdab]] in cloaks from the previous [[Terror_Tomb|Terror Tomb]] ride around the queueline to frighten them away and back to their spawners.

== "We're Better Than [[Thorpe_Park|Thorpe Park]]!" ==

However, as amazing and spectacular a park Chessington is, the service is quite slow but not as slow as the service at [[Thorpe_Park|Thorpe Park]], which is indomitably terrible. But however, the staff, ride hosts and operators brighten up the days better than at [[Thorpe_Park|Thorpe Park]], where they stand around doing nothing. A good example of this customer service at Chessington is on [[Rameses Revenge]] (Better known as [[Ripsaw|Ripsaw]] Ripoff or Rammeh), where a German ride op makes each ride a little faster and much more water sprayed whenever [[Alton Towers]] or [[Ripsaw]] is mentioned, thus creating banter-to-extent-abuse with the customers.

Alton Towers is a theme park in Staffordshire, England, which this entire Wikipedia is about... almost and is blatantly the best in all of the UK for everything. The park is awesomes. And anybody here would not beg to differ because they are delusional.

The park is named after the manor-like ruins of a family estate, which stand on top of a hill opposite the main entrance past a very, very, very, very huge lake containing a [[Giant Squid|giant squid]]. There is also a slightly interesting garden. It is common misconception that the ruins are a [[Castle|castle]]. No don't be stupid. That is not a [[Castle|castle]], that is nowhere near a [[Castle|castle]], you blithering idiot. There is already a [[Castle|castle]] in Alton and it's OUTSIDE OF THE PARK, named Alton [[Castle|Castle]]. It's too small to be a [[Castle|castle]] anyway!

[[File:ATLogo.jpg|200px|thumb|right|Wow.]]

The home used to be the summer residence of the wealthy Talbot family, best known for the inherited title, Earl of Shrewsbury. This is the same family responsible for [[Hex: The Legend of The Towers]] happening, a <s>un</s>true account of the 18th Earl of Shrewsbury deciding not to pay tax to a government crone.

The park opened in 1980 with the [[Corkscrew]] [[roller coaster]], and was immediately praised by the public for being a better than good theme park in England. Since then, Alton Towers has had a multitude of various rides ranging from the tame and meek to zOMFG, to appeal to all ages.

If anybody in park is found to dislike everything and anything in park, proclaiming somewhere like [[Thorpe Park]] is better, then they are fed to the [[Giant_Squid|giant squid]] and their relatives/friends/co-workers minds are erased of their existence. This is the reason why [[Chav|chavs]] are currently in the 'Threatened: Vulnerable' category of the Conservation status.

Alton Towers are famous for having a [[monofail]] manufactured by [[Von Roll]], and opened by William Shatner of ''Star Trek'' fame. How's that for publicity?
[[File:Thunderlooper.jpg|200px|thumb|right|Enthusiasts now have to make do with building their own models of the ride.]]

==Ride Description==

Thunderlooper differs from the cop-out attempt at launched rides built by [[Arrow|Arrow]] Dynamics by actually having a proper launch, rather than using a tea tray on wheels to push the train off the top of a hill. After the launch, the ride enters a near-circular loop typical of [[Schwarzkopf|Schwarzkopf]] rides before rising up a spike of track, hopefully coming to a stop before it falls off the end. The train then returns the way it came, passing through the station and up a smaller spike of track on the other side before being brought to a stop when it reaches the station for a second time.

The ride was highly popular and is much missed by enthusiasts. Part of the thrill came from the fact that it was highly unusual for a looping coaster as it had lap bars rather than OTSRs. It also packed a lot of excitement into a short length of track - a launch, forward and backward loops, copious [[Air|air]] time on the towers and a reverse station fly through.

==End of an Era==

At the end of 1996 the ride was removed as local farmers were complaining about it upsetting their cows (no, really). [[Alton_Towers|Alton Towers]] moved their pirate ship into the space left behind by the ride, presumably hoping no-one would notice there used to be a far superior ride there.
