Wiki editing - the basics.
Most of the tools you need to edit a page can be found in the icons above the text box. These buttons will apply the relevant formatting to selected text. Alternatively, you can use a number of simple commands to create the desired effect:
Command | Output |
---|---|
'''Bold Text''' | Bold Text |
''Italics'' | Italics |
'''''Bold & italics''''' | Bold & italics |
<s>Strikethrough text</s> | |
== Large Headline == | (A large headline - not shown) |
=== Small Headline === | (A smaller headline) |
Links
Internal links are encased in twin square brackets (e.g. Alton Towers</nowiki>). External links use single square brackets:- [1]</nowiki> displays [2]. Links can be 'piped' to display alternative text: UK's number 1 theme park</nowiki> displays UK's number 1 theme park, for external links simply leave a space between the end of the link and the text you wish to display.
When saving a page, any text that matches the title of another page is automatically turned into a link. If you do not want this to happen, enclose the relevant text in 'nowiki' tags, there is also a button above the text edit window to create these tags. The nowki tag ignores any wiki formatting command, displaying plain text instead (it is used heavily in the above table)
Images
Images can be uploaded using the 'upload file' tool accessed though the toolbox on the main page. Example code to include an image is shown below.
