Professor 'Burpy' Burp was the old, giggly and portly owner of the dark water ride Bubbleworks at Chessington World of Adventures between 1990 and 2005, who always used to say hello and goodbye to the guests who travelled through his pop drinks factory. Originally he was to be a Bavarian beermaker but John Wardley told him it was best to be child friendly instead, deciding on the fizzy and sugar inducing route.

At the start of the ride, with his literal tin dog.

As much as everybody loved him for being so giggly and upbeat, his exterior with wacky clothing styles and a constant laughing expression made young children fear for their lives because he appeared so incredibly creepy. Professor Burp did contemplate a bit of surgery to make himself more child-friendly in terms of appearance but, because no parent was annoyed enough at Chessington to actually complain, he couldn't be bothered.

It was during the early 00s train alteration of his next door neighbour, the Vampire, that Burp began to slowly predict his forced retirement from Chessington as an ominous cloud of Tussauds judgement loomed over the parks. He and Frazzle regularly discussed these feelings of doubt, whilst Abdab, being the jerk, just thought they were being stupid. By the time it was 2004, the Professor has become less than jolly and had begun packing away all his bubbly paraphenalia before the end of the 2005 season.

Now he is currently living (with his many wacky animatronic clones) in a specially made penthouse above Mexican Cantina next to Rattlesnake, retired from his job as a Professor and now known as 'Burpy' to the staff of Chessington who occasionally visit him. Unfortunately no-one knows of his current/future plans, but it is more than likely that he is planning a new rebellion to win his factory back from those darned Imperial Leather ducks.

[edit] Friends and Adversaries of Professor Burp

Professor Burp's pet can dogs accompanied him in the factory.
Having lived at Chessington since 1990, Professor Burp has made many friends with other characters/mascots in and around the park who may have retired themselves or, moved out of the park or still operating somewhat:
  • Zappomatic - Although they only got to know each other for 3 years, Burp and Zappomatic were incredibly close friends (Zap WAS his first friend) and regularly met up every month. After the incredible retheme of The Fifth Dimension to Terror Tomb, Zappomatic mysteriously disappeared under strange circumstances, in which he left the Professor distraught and upset.
  • Frazzle - It took the Professor a while to get used to chatting to a dragon but soon enough, they became considerably good friends with strange ties. During the great dark time of Tussauds, the Professor helped her move into her lesser interesting abode outside of Dragons Fury despite his own threats of retirement.
  • Igor the Organist - They've had their good times and they've had their bad times. In other words, not much to say about their friendship aside from they both loved a good fizzy drink to get hyper around Transylvania pre-2005.
  • Abdab- After Zappomatic's disappearance, the Professor felt an incredible force of hatred when Abdab came in to take over for Terror Tomb. Abdab's rude and brash personality proved too informal for Burp and soon the two were locked in a battle of dislike and repeated acts of vengeance. Tussauds made the terrible mistake of moving the soon-retired animatronic characters in together. But somewhat thankfully, Abdab got kicked out into the Vampire queueline for the 2010 season.
