A stand up rollercoaster at Drayton Manor Park.

Shockwave opened in 1994 as Europe's first stand up coaster. Since then, other parks have been falling over themselves to avoid adding one of their own. Shockwave is unique amongst coasters in that construction began from the station in both directions with the intention of meeting up in the middle. Unfortunately the park ran out of money half way though construction, and was forced to build a long straight section of track to connect the two sections.

Shockwave is also notable for confusing enthusiasts by being an Intamin rollercoaster that looks like it was built by B&M.
