Eeer... what's my story again?

The Haunting is a Verkoma Mad House ride at Drayton Manor, themed around a paranormal investigation team who visit an old Priory and end up getting velcro'd to the ceiling by the bored Count of the Parish.

Built before Hex in 1996 and widely regarded as the first Mad House in the United Kingdom, the special effects and technology put into the ride do cease to amaze you as it's original serious purpose was to psychologically test you with scares and frights. But since then, the original purpose has vanished in a puff of unoriginality as the ride has become cheesy and laughable, the phrase So Bad It's Good comes to mind as enthusiasts admit a loving affection.

The Ride

Queue Line

The queue is entirely situated within a clump of mysterious trees in front of the 'Drayton Green Priory' and next to a lorry from the Institute of Metaphysical Research that has been parked quite badly with ivy overgrowing. There isn't much to see here aside from a take in of the 'atmosphere' you are to get later:

Waiting for ages.

Sooner or later, a staff member will appear from the mis-parked lorry and begin batching accordingly with the most impeccable acting skills that even the Oscars would find more powerful than The Shawshank Redemption, in which you first come across the first pre-show.
