Sandwiched between Mutiny Bay and Gloomy Wood, Katanga Canyon is an African themed land created by John Wardley back in the early 90s and is considered one of his best themed areas. Funnily enough...
It is also the only known area on park that has never had a ride removed or added (though the previously unthemed Grand Canyon Rapids, as Congo River Rapids was then known, pre-dates the area), nor ever been rethemed. Yes, we have a truly surviving place at Alton Towers here, people!
