Certain theme park rides are designed to get riders wet. Surprisingly, despite our awful weather, quite a few rides in the UK do this. It's difficult to say why this appeals to the British theme park-visiting public, but it's presumably because knowing that at any moment you might get soaked can provide a level of anticipation and maybe even masochistic enjoyment. It tends to be the case however that actually getting wet isn't remotely fun.
Rides are generally classified for wetness under Unacceptable Wetness, Acceptable Wetness or Excessive Wetness. Please find possible reasons for classifying rides under a particular category below.

Examples
Unacceptable Wetness
A ride that is of a style that usually has reasonable Potential For Wetness (PFW), but fails to deliver any.
- Examples:
A ride that resorts to cheating to soak guests, perhaps with shower heads or water jets.
- Examples:
- Rumba Rapids
- The Flume
- Splash Canyon
A ride that involves travelling on water, but doesn't look like the sort of thing that will get you wet at all, yet does eventually prove itself to be capable of delivering wetness.
- Examples:
A ride that is capable of getting you acceptably wet, but is so unenjoyable as to be not worth getting wet for.
- Examples:
- Bubbleworks
- Time Voyagers
A ride that immediately looks to have Potential For Wetness when you spot the water jets in the back of the seats in front. When things get going, very real PFW quickly arises. None is delivered, which would be fine normally, except that this really is a perfect opportunity to get guests wet. The wetness only comes along later when you don't see any PFW whatsoever, making the spray seem even more nasty than it would be if you knew it was coming.
- Examples:
- TIME. EFFING. VOYAGERS.
Acceptable Wetness
A ride that strikes a good balance between PFW and Realised Wetness (RW). You will get wet, you may get soaked. It's all fun for the most part.
- Examples:
A ride that gets you quite wet. Not too wet, but still pretty wet. Fortunately, it's enough fun when you're not getting wet to make the wet bits bearable, and the PFW before the inevitable RW happens is fantastic.
- Examples:
Especially when they're on decent sequences.
Excessive Wetness
A ride that is destined to get you wet the moment you step within the vicinity, regardless of deciding whether to not join in.

Further Notes
Generally, different guests will have different levels of tolerance to water on rides, so it's important to note that in extreme cases, one enthusiast's excessive wetness may be another's unacceptable wetness. Some members with extreme wetness tolerance may even refuse to ride anything that fails to give them a damn good soaking unless it's raining.
Also, the level of wetness experienced on a ride can vary depending upon the time of year and other riders whom may join you. For example, Ripsaw's water jets only tend to be used on those unusual days when the sun can actually be bothered to shine a bit. Whilst we're on the subject, riding Ripsaw with TST is NOT recommended whatsoever. But you may end up doing so anyway if you attend a meet and are easily coerced by others.
It is also noted that after you ride a water ride and get either unacceptably or excessively wet (i.e. so wet that you can't even move due to the heavily drenched clothes you're wearing) and are with TTF, then you are bound to be caught in faff as nobody really wants to sit on another ride while soaking wet. This will mean standing around like soggy beavers lemons for up to an hour whilst fellow members attempt to go from being 'drenched' to a level of wetness that is near 'moist'.
If you dislike water rides and dislike getting wet BY water rides but happen to be attending a meet alongside members who are likely to coerce you into going on a ride listed above, then it is best to attend on a hot day. This'll mean less moaning from you and less faff, but will still allow humourous photos of you in your drenched state to be taken without your permission.
