Member Guidelines

We like to keep rules light, but to make sure TowersStreet stays friendly, welcoming, and safe for all members, we ask everyone to follow these simple guidelines.

Avatars & Signatures

  • Avatars: They display on the forum in a circular format. They should be 400×400px so that they’re displayed clearly. Animation is fine if subtle and not overly distracting.
  • Avatar uploads are available only to members who have had their first 5 posts approved, and are periodically reviewed by the team to ensure they remain suitable.
  • Signatures: Keep it sensible, a total height of around 400px max, up to 5 images and 6 lines of text. Animation is allowed if it’s not too distracting.
  • No adult, violent, or offensive content.
  • We recommend hosting signature images externally. If you’re unable to do this, drop a PM to an administrator and we can host it for you.

Reporting Concerns

If you see content that seems unsuitable or breaches the guidelines, click the Report button underneath the post. Our team will review and take action if required. Please avoid trying to resolve the issue yourself and don’t reply to the post(s) in question. Just report it so we can remove it quickly.

Spam

Spam happens, please don’t reply to it. Just report it so we can remove it quickly.

Respect Others

  • Treat other members the way you’d like to be treated.
  • Disagree respectfully. No personal attacks, harassment, or discriminatory comments toward others.
  • Avoid direct arguments. If it’s getting heated, walk away or report it.
  • Respect other communities. This includes both online and at in-person meets.

Language

  • TowersStreet is a PG forum – no swearing (including “veiled” swearing with symbols) and no adult content.
  • The forum is accessible to all. Please keep discussion suitable for all ages.

Sensitive Topics

Discussions about subjects like bereavement, mental health, or self harm are permitted when they’re for support or awareness.

When posting about these topics:

  • Start with a brief content warning of the subjects discussed so others know what to expect before reading.
  • Keep language respectful and never include graphic details or descriptions of self-harm or suicide methods – these will be removed.
  • The team may edit a post to signpost to professional help if needed.
  • Be mindful that some members may find such content upsetting or triggering.
  • Posts that are deemed harmful, unsafe, or in breach of these rules may be removed for the wellbeing of the community.

Media in Posts

  • All images must be embedded from an external host.
  • You must have rights to any media you share or credit the source.
  • GIFs should be relevant and used sparingly.
  • Videos should only be posted if they add to discussion, and should also be accompanied by opinions or viewpoints of your own. Posting videos without your own views or opinions is considered spamming, and the team will remove posts where identified.

Posting Tips

  • Check if a similar topic already exists before posting.
  • Read through your post before submitting, avoid excessive txt spk or ALL CAPS.
  • Keep posts on-topic and meaningful; one-word or off-topic posts may be removed.

Work in the industry?

  • If you work in the theme park industry, especially at Alton Towers or Merlin Entertainments attractions, then please be aware that parks can and do monitor online communities such as TowersStreet. We welcome anyone to contribute, but it’s best to ensure before posting that nothing you say can be interpreted as being representative of the park or company you work for. It’s worth checking your terms and conditions of employment if you’re not 100% sure on your employer’s stance on employees sharing information with external contacts.
  • To put it simply, if you’re unsure – it’s best not to post!

Confidential or Insider Information

  • As you spend time in the enthusiast community, you might find friends who become ‘sources of information’ and learn things that aren’t public knowledge. If sharing what you learn won’t compromise your source, feel free to post. Remember, there may be reasons information is not public—especially if your source works in the industry. When in doubt, ask them first.
  • If you have got some information and you don’t want to post it because it’ll get that person into trouble then it’s very simple – just keep quiet! Posts that simply hint to you knowing something, without revealing that information, just comes across as boasting to other members and doesn’t add value to the discussion. As a result such posts are very likely to be removed by the team.

Links & Promotion

  • You may link to your own site in your signature.
  • Linking in posts is fine if it adds to the discussion; outright advertising will be removed.

Account Deletion

  • If you’d like to delete your account, contact an admin via the team page to request deletion.
  • Deleted accounts can’t be restored and posts will remain but under an anonymised username.
  • If you’re leaving due to an issue, please talk to us first, we may be able to help.

Official Meets

We’ll sometimes share dates and places for members to meet up. These aren’t organised events — you’re responsible for yourself on the day. If you’re under 18, we strongly recommend attending with a responsible adult.

And finally…

These guidelines are here to keep TowersStreet welcoming, respectful, and safe. Follow them, use common sense, and enjoy your time here! If you have any questions, you’re welcome to private message (PM) a member of the team. Please note that PMs are restricted for new members; until unlocked, you can contact us via the banner contact form at the top of each forum page.
