Today it was revealed by the social media giant Facebook that the UK’s favourite place to ‘check-in’ in 2012 was the Alton Towers Resort. It narrowly beat off its sister in the South, THORPE PARK, to take the crown.
Earlier in the season, we reported how the park was installing a new WiFi system in partnership with The Cloud and the success of this park-wide internet access has made it easier for guests to check in between rides. The park have also encouraged much more social interaction on park since the system launched, through their recent dedicated Scarefest app and SW7 QR codes dotted around the park. The system itself has perhaps been a victim of its own success at times though, as on very busy days people have reported slow and even no access at all, something hopefully The Cloud will manage and address better for the 2013 season.

The Alton Towers Resort beat other major landmarks and attractions in the UK such as The Trafford Centre, Leicester Square, The O2 Arena and even the Olympic Village.
