The Doctor Will See You Now…

With just three weeks to go until the preview weekend for this year’s Scarefest, marketing has begun to speed up for the event with a series of new images released this week, including the logo for the park’s new scare-maze, The Sanctuary.

Rounding up a week that has seen an as yet unidentified graffiti artist bring a touch of joy to the park by daubing a series of enigmatic logos between the park entrance and the construction site for SW7 in X- Sector, the park has this morning released the logo for The Sanctuary.

The new maze for 2012, invites people into the hitherto unseen clinic of the Ministry of Joy, who are currently holding a series of trials for their upcoming 2013 project.

The bold new logo promises a rather different style of maze to any the park has previously seen and accompanying the new logo, the park have also released some new details regarding the maze on the official website:

“Is life a burden? Are things getting you down? Lost your Smile? Then check yourself in for a refreshing check up at The Sanctuary. The Ministry of Joy will launch its next revolutionary project in March 2013. After being closed for new patients for almost 50 years The Sanctuary, The Ministry of Joy’s earliest establishment, is now holding important trials searching for ‘Advocates’ for its 2013 project. So please, book your appointment, get yourself comfortable as the Doctor will see you now.”

A Return to Altonville

The new logo is the latest in a line of marketing to be revealed by the park for this year’s Scarefest, alongside new adverts for the resort’s family friendly Trick or Treat Rooms and their more intense counterparts, The Scare Rooms.

This year’s Scare Rooms at the Alton Towers Hotel are based around the Altonville Motel, which currently has vacancies aplenty and is offering a most unusual entertainment line-up for their special guests right through to 2am. Altonville, you may remember, last came to the attention of the general public after a series of unfortunate incidents between 2007 and 2009 at a local farm gave rise to The Field of 1000 Screams. But surely one small town couldn’t be that unfortunate twice…
