Today Alton Towers has released a full promotional video confirming the world beating element of their new roller coaster The Smiler would be 14 inversions, smashing the current world record of 11 in one ride.
It has long been speculated by our community members that this would be the much hyped world beating element, since construction began showing more inversions than the originally released plans displayed, and marketing promised something world record breaking.
This news comes only a day after the ride launch date for The Smiler was revealed to be the 23rd of May.
The marketing for the ride has already seen a large increase over the past few days with cryptic teaser videos showing a Miles Cedars character with links to The Ministry of Joy – a strange cult related to the Smiler. The teaser videos also included references to other rides in X-Sector and The Sanctuary, a scare maze previously dubbed as a prequel to The Smiler.
The video (below) appeared this morning on Alton Towers official YouTube channel and features an impressive lighting package and CGI effects to promote the ride while confirming the world record breaking element.
