CBeebies Land at Alton Towers opened it’s doors to the public last Saturday at 9am, and since then the brand new family area has been extremely popular. So popular that some of the areas signature rides including Postman Pat Parcel Post, In The Night Garden Magical Boat Ride and Get Set Go Treetop Adventure have been experiencing queues well over 60 minutes, which is quite some time to be stood with young children.

To try and combat this problem, this Monday 9th June Alton Towers will be running a trial on a new way to queue for In The Night Garden Magical Boat Ride in CBeebies Land. Guests will be able to collect a timed ticket from a team member at the entrance of the ride and return to the ride later in the day at their scheduled time slot. So rather than queueing for the ride they are free to explore the rest of CBeebies Land and the Alton Towers Resort.

In the Night Garden Magical Boat Ride takes you on a magical journey with Igglepiggle and his friends through a world of Tittifers, Pontipines and Tombliboos. It is sure to be a big hit with all those In The Night Garden fans!

Unlike Fastrack – Merlins paid for system, this new trial will be free for all visitors and will only be available on In The Night Garden Magical Boat Ride. However if successful it could be rolled out to other CBeebies Land rides.

Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Chessington,  offered a very similar timed ticket system many years ago, on rides including Air, Oblivion, The Blackhole and Nemesis. Purpose built huts were placed near ride entrances with automatic ticket machines, and some of these huts still stand today including those for Oblivion and Air, which are now used for lockers. This free timed system was later replaced with the paid for fastrack system we have today.

What are your thoughts on this new system? Do you think it will work, and could it be rolled out to more rides around the park? Leave us a comment below, or visit our Talk Forums. For more details about the new trial, visit the CBeebies Land FAQ page.
