Ever since the plans for Project Sunshine were first revealed back in December, we have known that Postman Pat’s time at Alton Towers was coming to an end, but the park has now confirmed that Postman Pat Parcel Post is set to close on June 3rd 2025.

Postman Pat Parcel Post - PAT1 passes by Greendale School

Project Sunshine is the latest ride addition for CBeebies Land and will see a new junior coaster added to the line-up, replacing the park’s vintage car-style attraction. The park have not yet indicated what character the new ride will be themed around, but popular speculation suggests that Bluey is the most likely theme for the new coaster.

Whilst planning permission for the new coaster has not yet been officially announced, it is likely that Alton Towers have already been informed of the decision ahead of the planning portal being updated. It would therefore seem likely that the permission will be announced this week, given the park are in a position to close the existing ride.

Get Set Go Treetop Adventure is also set to close on June 3rd, but only temporarily, and is set to reopen at some point during July. On its current course, the aerial railway passes directly over Postman Pat Parcel Post, which means the track needs to be shortened. It is expected that Garmendale, one of the park’s regular collaborators, will carry out the modifications to the ride.

Project Sunshine - New Foundations for Get Set Go Treetop Adventure

It remains to be seen exactly what the new layout for the Treetop Adventure will look like, but when it returns, it is possible that guests might no longer pass through the Bugbies treehouse. Foundations for new supports were poured over winter, suggesting that the layout might instead take a turn to the right directly before the treehouse, clipping across the bottom of the Postman Pat site instead.

CBeebies Land - Postman Pat

It is currently expected that, following the closure of his ride, Postman Pat will be leaving the resort altogether, including the departure of the roaming version of Postman Pat, who until recently could often be found driving around CBeebies Land in his van, sometimes even accompanied by Jess the cat.

Postman Pat also appeared in the resort as a costumed character, but outside of Monster Ball at Scarefest, it was rare for the character to appear in the park, but was more commonly seen meeting and greeting at the CBeebies Land Hotel. It is likely the character will continue to appear at the hotel for the duration of this season, but it currently looks like the Postman Pat Rooms and Suite will be replaced during the resort’s annual winter maintenance in January 2026.

Mission Accomplished at Postman Pat Parcel Post

It seems as though it is Mission Accomplished for the UK’s favourite postman, and retirement looms for Postman Pat after eleven years at Alton Towers. But there is still time for one last tour of Greendale, and fans of the ride have just over a week left to hop aboard a van and help with one last special delivery.
