Alton Towers have announced a year-long series of events for the 2021 season; the most that has been seen at the park since the likes of Towers, Treats and Trails, Chocolate Towers and Adrenalin Weeks in 2007. Billed as “thrilliant celebrations,” we’re set to see 6 events, some of which are new, whilst others are returning favourites.
Mardi Gras – 22nd May-20th June 2021
Expected to take place on the lawns directly in front of the Towers, the Mardi Gras event is inspired by the popular carnivals which take place internationally. As per the name, “Fat Tuesday,” the events typically goes ahead around pancake day in February, although the colourful party is certainly more tailored to the warmer weather of May and June in the UK!
Ultimate Summer of Fun – Summer Holidays 2021
Very little information is currently available for this event, and despite the fact that it has been announced on Alton Towers’ social media platforms, there is no mention of it on the Alton Towers website. We’ll be sure to bring you the details of this as and when we hear them.
Oktoberfest – 11th September-3rd October 2021
After the success of Oktoberfest at Alton Towers towards the end of the 2020 season, it’s no surprise to see that it’s set to return in 2021! Grab a Bier, a Bratwurst and a bench on the lawns, while enjoying entertainment and rides into the evening.
Scarefest – 8th-10th and 15th-31st October 2021
As one of the longest-running Alton Towers events, Scarefest returns in 2021 for a season of thrills and frights. You can brave the scare mazes located around the park, or if that’s not quite your thing, soak up the enhanced atmosphere of the most spooktacular time of the year and experience the rides in the dead of night!
Fireworks – 5th-7th November 2021
The ever-popular Fireworks event is back for a long weekend of spectacle in the sky, as we see the main season out in style. We expect more details will emerge later on in the year for the logistics of this event, with regards to any social distancing restrictions in place at the time.
Christmas – 27th-28th November and 3rd-5th, 10th-11th and 17th-23rd December 2021
2020 was the first time that Alton Towers properly invested in a winter season event open to day guests as well as those staying over in the hotels. Unfortunately the COVID-19 restrictions at the time meant that only locals could visit, so it’s hoped that the 2021 event can have a much wider audience. The event included a selection of rides, food, drink and the ethereal Garden Lights Walk: Twinkling Stars. This year’s event will also see a brand new Christmas market!
To compliment the season of events, a large stage has been spotted on the lawns at the bottom of Towers Street, complete with plenty of picnic benches, suggesting that entertainments will be rife throughout the year. This will provide a welcome break from rides for a lot of guests and will increase capacity across the park.
This announcement comes simultaneously with that of the pop-up rides spread around the theme park for the 2021 season. You can read all about this in our news article.
