Altonville Mine Tours 2024 Promo

Altonville Mines are once again open for the season. So why not join one of the popular Mine Tours, which guests are reminded are now totally safe since the authorities have rounded up the notorious Skin Snatchers.

Of course, it is worth bearing in mind that one of the mine's former residents, Tiny has so far evaded justice, but it's unlikely he'd return to Altonville Mines, right?

If you would like more information regarding the local legend of The Skin Snatchers, tours kick off just outside X-Sector, where a local will be happy to guide you into the mines and lift the mask on this urban legend.

Attraction History

Altonville Mine Tours was first introduced in 2016, replacing the short-lived maze The Haunting of Molly Crowe in the basement of West Wing of the Towers. Originally named Skin Snatchers, by the time the attraction opened it had gained the new name, which was announced on the official website on Friday 2nd September 2016.

The maze has since become a staple of Scarefest and one of the longest running mazes in the event's history. In 2023 the familiar storyline received an update to become Altonville Mine Tours: Tiny’s Revenge, featuring the cat and mouse story of the cops' hunt for the fugitive Skin Snatcher.

Altonville is a long-running locale for Scarefest, have appeared in most events since 2007. Guests were first invited to visit this faux-American town during The Field of a 1000 Screams, the classic scare maze, set on a farm on the outskirts of town. In later years, the Altonville Motel played host to the once popular Scare Rooms in the Alton Towers Hotel, before attention turned to the Altonville Mine and the tale of the Skin Snatchers who dwelled within.
