The Gardener's Cottage is one of several houses dotted throughout the Gardens, which were once home to members of the estate staff.
When the Towers first opened as a pleasure park through to the 60s, the cottage acted as a tearoom and its large patio was the perfect spot for tables of guests to enjoy afternoon tea. When not operating as a tearoom, the owner of the cottage would sometimes operate a shop from the premises instead.
In the 1980s the house was converted into three flats, which were rented out to park staff and the property was last occupied in the mid 90s.
More recently, the cottage has formed the backdrop to scenes during the various light trails that have wound through the Gardens in the autumn and winter months since 2020. Scarefest fans might also recognise the building from the promos for the House of Monsters, which were shot at the cottage.
