Ohh... Intresting. SW8 site is now live.
With wood, wood and more wood.

Couldn't they divert guests out of the park to enter the gate just before the monorail? I'm not sure what state the Mutiny Bay staff entrance is in though
I would imagine that they will just use haunted hollow and the sky rides for access to that part of the park. The main path will probably reopen once construction has progressed so far.

I can't help but think that this looks incredibly similar to the marketing material for the Gruffalo at Chessington. Loving the teasing. Also probably an irrelevant observation but these do look significantly less pirate related than the first signs.

Are sheds going to be the new shipping container :D
Personally I prefer shipping containers to be honest... They can do anything with them and there portable.

I don't see these new imagery staying with SW8 next year, they will probably retheme it to whatever SW8's theme will be.

Wow no one is excited for SW8 and I'm about to let everyone even less exciting with this information I found on TowersTimes.
An application for the trademark 'The Wicker Man' has been filed by Lane IP (the company who are usually Merlin's representative on trademark applications), which could be related to SW8 given that it’s been mentioned in relation to it previously when a contractor posted images of The Flume’s deconstruction.

Although Lane IP Limited, and not Merlin Attractions Operations Limited, are registered as the owner, a similar approach was taken with the 'Ghost Train' and ‘Derail your Mind’ trademarks with ownership transferred to Merlin once the attraction was announced/open to reduce the chances of people finding it prematurely. The potential of this being for Merlin (and possibly SW8) is also increased with the classifications it has (25, 35, 41) matching with previous trademarks that Merlin have filed for their attractions.

If anything, it’s certainly very intriguing and something further to speculate about as the 2017 season approaches…
So basically it will be another dark theme ride(with myself am ok with) but if I am correct Merlin want this to go down like SAW:The Ride and the park haven't learnt there lesson with TH13TEEN. Maybe SW9, Just maybe but at least we know we are getting a solid ride with some great theming like DBGT and SAW are.

EDIT: Seeing The Wicker Man film is owned by LionsGate which own the SAW franchise. Why couldn't of we got a nice Hunger Games ride instead it's alot more recent IP. (Totally not because I'm a Hunger Games Fan)

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We're still over a year ahead of the ride opening. When was The Smiler's name trademarked? I don't think it was this early.

Why couldn't we just get a nice Pirate themed family coaster?
But the Mutiny Bay theme was just a very quick & easy theme cliche to rebrand a tired area in 2008. It's a very generic pirate theme, had very fun touches but has had its 10 years, it shouldnt really be used as a cage for their new ride.

Will the Wickerman theme be creative though? Or will it be another grey/brown backstory-heavy hipster misery theme like always? Dunno.

But Pirate is something that is generally always popular and suits the stables/courtyard area of AT well so I can see it staying for a while, as long as they keep refreshing the theming (and not just more vinyl signs!).

Mutiny Bay is a bit of a poor-mans area anyway now.

With exception to Battle Galleons and the area around Marauders/Heave Ho, the rest of the area is as it always has been.

Arcade stands, games and fast food kiosks. The entertainment doesn't exist either anymore.

This willl quite clearly revitalise it, no matter what the theme.

It's a shame they did not follow the concept art for it, could have been a fantastic area. I suppose it was a sign of things to come theme wise.

It was OK at the start.

There was entertainment with the pirate show AND the walkabout pirates. Plus there was the panning for gold (which didn't make any money, but still looked good). When they added Sharkbait Reef it really topped the area off. Sharkbait itself is a class attraction.
