He's doing it right, and looks like he's using DeWalt tools as well so I'm convinced the build quaility of this ride will be ace! :p

I think it quite likely is Baphomet rather than a traditional Wicker Man. The horns were clearly identifiable on the plans and then seeing photos of the theming element just a few days ago, they are 100% horns.

You've then got to look at all of the symbolism used. It's all satanic rituals and worship. There was nothing like this in the original Wicker Man stories (or the movies).

This 'tribe' who ever they are have basically just cobbled together a symbol or structure of baphomet made out of wood. And that's the only resemblence to Wicker Man.
Completely agree. Having seen it from only a few metres away, it's hard to imagine it'd be anything else. The horns look more curved and less outstretched than those of a typical Baphomet depiction and of those seen on the plans. But they definitely are 100% sheep like horns, most of one of the horns was almost completely uncovered and I believe TPWW have a picture showing this from a further distance away on their FB page.

Putting that together with what we know already about the theme, I think it's almost guaranteed to be a giant wicker Baphomet type creature with satanic like worship.

I'm also starting to doubt that it will actually be called "Wickerman" and that the ride logo is also either a ruse or variation of what the finished design would look like.

It'll probably just be a stylised wickerman with horns to sell sooper kewl merch. Having straight-up Satanic imagery in a family coaster won't be the best idea unless they're actively seeking controversy.

You're absolutely right, and neither theme is actually suitable for families.

So you've got either the satantic Baphomet stuff, or Wicker Man which is used for burning people alive. Personally I've never been too keen on the idea of people being burned alive, it's pretty sickening, and both of these things focus on that in some way.

This coaster is basically like Saw aimed at kiddies. Nice eh.

I'm praying they put some sort of light hearted spin on the whole thing. Not sure how they'd do that considering the subject matter but hey ho

Do we know for sure that SW8 is being aimed at families? I know it's an assumption that's been going round for a while, but could it not possibly be aimed at the older teen/adult market instead of families?

I know it's typically moving in the opposite direction to what Alton Towers seem to have been moving towards as of late (CBeebies hotel etc), but with all this theming and hints of horror, I can't see how it can possibly be being aimed at the family market.

If you, go in, to the woods, today...you better not go...alone

SURRENDER TO THE BRAND NEW PHYCOASYER AT ALTON TOWERS RESORT
(Fun for all the family)

Just saying...

Yes the marketing for Th13teen was terrible. Beyond terrible. They actually had pre and post watershed adverts because the original was deemed too creepy for kids.

It was advertised as being the greatest thrill coaster that ever existed. When really, the coaster itself is not even as fun as RMT, the spooky theming isn't even as good as Duel, and the drop track section is the only part of the ride anyone remembers.

Looks like the same issue with SW8. It's just not thrill. It's not in any way. The layout is lame, far too soft, so it can only be aimed at families.

No I definitely had a small Smiler mug with just the logo on and a sticker on the bottom marking it as SW7. Can't remember when I bought it but it must have been after they started the logo marketing stunts.

Yes, the logo started appearing spray painted around the park towards the end of the 2012 season (if you look hard enough there are still some vey small remnants of these!) and they sold black t shirts/hoodies/mugs with the face on.
