Hi guys,

I was a member a few years back but left. But always been lurking in the shadows.

I agree with what someone said a bit back about this feeling the most like a “tussauds” attraction.

And for the love that people seam to hold for Oblivion really makes me happy.

As much as I bash towers for the short rides, Oblivion is my favourite coaster in the world.

The one thing that’s leaving a small amount of dread in my stomach is this marketing campaign feels very much like DBGT to me.

I know that we will definitely be getting more of a ride than DBGT... something just doesn’t feel right... almost like overcompensating.

Although having said this... the dread part is on Towers side. If the GCI’s I’ve ridden are anything to go by I’m excited.

Sorry for the long post... it’s been a while.

It's not quiet as bad as DBGT, at least with SW8 we already know the items in promotional material (fire, effigy, wood, err Rollercoaster) are actually on site and physically within the ride, unlike those porcelain dolls that appeared on the London Underground for DBGT promos that ended up in Derren's house or the, for want of a better description, Dog that only appeared in digital form in the second section of the ride looking like something from a SNES game.

Like I said... “I know we will definitely be getting more of a ride than DBGT.”

Guess we can be there for ERT and get in queue at 9am so will be one of the first in the queue just need to wrap up warm for the hour wait

If you can beat all the guys to the gate who will turn up ridiculously early then good luck to you. Also, as pretty much everyone gets ERT these days (basically anyone who doesn't pay on the gate) you'll still be in the same scrum with everyone else come 9 A.M. Your pass is not going to be helping you that much really. Only way to get anywhere near the first few rides will be to get there ridiculously early to be nearest to the turnstiles, then run for your life when the gates open. Have fun :)

I know but I guess it just adds to the excitement and at last will create some sort of hype around the place which of late has been lacking. My first question was just because I thought they might have done a preview event or something for MAP holders like they did for DBGT or Galactica. And a further question is when do the competition winners and media companies (blue Peter, good morning Britain, etc) get the first ride? Is it earlier in that week ending 17th March?

Ps I hope they have enough staff to deal and organise the queue and crowds ;-)

Folk at work have been asking "what's all this about a coaster Alton Towers burning down?" I explained the situation. Then I showed them some of the latest drone pictures.
Reactions ranged from a raised eyebrow and "...hmm...", right through to "Is that it?" and " Where's the rest of it?"

You’d expect a AP event probably like Galactica, an hour of access before general opening along with the competition winners getting on the first ride that day with MAP VIP.

Other competition winners from press competitions will probably get rides during the week before along with the press much the same as Galactica.

It’s all speculation of course as we don’t actually have an opening date other than Spring 2018 (which is 20th March - 21st June this year)

I managed to get in the fifth train of the day when Thirteen opened- such disappointment running all that way for that ha ha ha

I remember Sub-Terra's opening day. Thousands of people queueing all the way through Forbidden Valley.

So naturally I ignored the queue and just rode Nemesis and Air a dozen times. Came back later when there was no queue at all :p

Only problem was the guy standing outside the entrance ranting about how bad it was, while telling the whole queue what happens... Let's hope no one from here becomes that guy!

I HATE people doing that with TH13TEEN, there's still people who don't know what the special element is and it's best experienced first hand without knowing in advance what it is
