Just watched the Q&A session and apparently there is even more theming that wasn’t quite working on the press day. Apparently the station has a fire effect with smoke and the maintenance shed at the end has some audio as a finale. This is really great to hear actually, even little bits like that will improve the ride experience a lot more in my opinion.

Don't worry, it'll all be broken within a month.

Noticed in some of the YouTube videos, it looks like a lot of landscaping still needs to be done with some of the surrounding area still looking quite tatty. Would be nice to see a fully finished project (inc landscape) by opening day for once, unlike The Smiler which was still having turf laid late in the season!

Would be nice to see some form of theming in those big empty sheds though.

Well isn’t this a charmingly positive place to be these days!

I know Merlin don’t exactly have a fantastic track record with these things. However I think it is clear to see from Wicker Man that the creative team really are trying! The ride is possibly the most polished thing we’ve seen at towers since Hex. So I still have faith for the moment!

This is the issue though - there are people who clearly care. But the people at the top just want to cream off the profit.

It really is same old same old. As I have said before well done to the team that put this amazing experience together. It’s just a shame your work won’t last

Why don't we wait until it's been open a fortnight rather than speculating that the Entertainments team will completely fail to look after the effects on Smiler?

:)
I was thinking give the 6 months to a year before commenting on servicing and maintenance of affects.

That gives everything time to settle down.

Not going out of my way to be negative but history often repeats itself at Towers.

Their most valuable asset, Nemesis, has had a repaint, but its the most basic things which are neglected - i.e. the various theming objects around the ride, the weedy and overgrown rocks, the clear water falls, and the fog machine in the mushroom cloud tours bus. These are things which all add to the experience, much like what people are celebrating Wicker Man for, yet I bet none of these things have been looked at.

At the very least the Ents team could fix the fog machine.

Indeed it is the simple things that often let the park down. Closing at 4pm is one of them.

It's completely fair to question the parks track record of these things as what else have we to go by? Wickerman may well be the exception and I hope it is! But the facts point towards the contrary.

Some cast members have died due to insufficient protection from moving parts of rides etc. But i think most public deaths on Disney rides have been from ore exisirjng medical conditions

There was a serious accident on one of the Big thunder mountain's back in 2003, when a train derailed, where people lost their lives.

They need to put an advert on Indeed.com for a Fog re-filler-upper person. I'll do it as long as it's not Zero Hours. I'll even pull out the odd weed as I walk between rides!
