Only 3 days till opening... so excited! And only 4 days till I'm potentially visiting depending on snow! I can't believe that we're getting on this great-looking GCI woodie in just 3 days, having followed the project since the day it was announced for the Flume site. It looks much better than I'd ever imagined it would in May 2016, and the initial reviews seem to be saying that the ride is faster and more intense than people were expecting, with a few great pops of airtime!

Out of all of Merlin's dark themes, They pick arguable the least dark one and moan about how it is about 'worshipping the devil'...
I'm pretty sure these people don't know about TWD:TR or The Wickerman films then...
Rams are widely associated with the devil, usually cos of the horns...
I hope they start a picket line, those are always hilarious...
Fine answer but you kinda missed the gag line lol
Of course arming said Ram will sort those picket lines...

Forecast certainly got worse now hasn’t it. I’ll be waiting to see if it improves tomorrow evening before considering setting off.Now a yellow weather warning for snow and ice over Alton towers for Saturday and Sunday. Bah, can you believe the timing. This week and next week is fine. The weekend.....bam!
Debating whether to visit or not now , it's going to be a very difficult day if the park does open.

Just think though, if the park does still open and the weather bad it won't be as busy. Now a yellow weather warning for snow and ice over Alton towers for Saturday and Sunday. Bah, can you believe the timing. This week and next week is fine. The weekend.....bam!

There is that but what would be open if the forecast is correct, maximum of -1c with snow?Just think though, if the park does still open and the weather bad it won't be as busy.![]()
Also would Merlin take a risk on H&S these days, gritting pathways and making it safe for customers. nowadays if one person slips they’d sue the park

It all depends what forecast you want to believe. Met Office looks worse than what BBC are saying.
It doesn't look like it is going to be freezing overnight on Friday, so the chances of ice on the rails is less. But obviously it is going to be very cold throughout the day.

Yeah don't forget the BBC weather no longer uses the Met Office, instead they use MeteoGroup so expect some differences! It all depends what forecast you want to believe. Met Office looks worse than what BBC are saying.

I've always had the belief when it comes to weather it's easier to predict the horse races.
But will Merlin Upper Management take the risk, I don't know. I will be pretty miffed though if opening day of the seasons ends up being Monday as I won't be able to attend.
*Sigh*

The rides will shut during the day if the temperature reaches a pre-determined temperature.
I believe all rides have had wind and temperature gauges installed since the accident on The Smiler.
