I agree that is is partly the issue. However Energylandia for example do seem to have a lot more available to them than Merlin could realistically give Alton Towers, Energylandia is a somewhat extreme example. You do make valid points though, F&B offerings at Towers should and could be so much better than they are. I'm not expecting Disney levels of food but I enjoyed some really nice food at Cedar Fair parks in the US over the past couple of years.

Look at the F&B offer at Europa Park & Phantasia Land - both are excellent & quite often themed (in terms of the food on offer) to fit in with the area they are situated in.

What do Merlin give us? Burgers, pizza / pasta & fried chicken - so imaginative (& poor quality).

It's not even just the major players such as EP & PL. I visited Hansa Park a couple of weeks ago for the first time and was astonished by how well landscaped and intricately themed the place is. It's not even comparable to the decrepit and neglected mess that is Alton Towers nowadays, and Hansa Park is still family-owned and a relatively small park in the grand scheme of things. The entire UK park industry is messed up and the root cause of it all effectively is Merlin.

Yep I even thought Bobbejaanland was putting towers to shame in places when I went a few weeks ago. Their Land of Legends area was exceptional. Again much cleaner than towers, better entertainment options too.

Premium season pass don’t include share the fun vouchers so can’t use them
Premium Merlin pass does and can use the share the fun vouchers.

OK they might have representation but I imagine that the financial performance of legoland is going to be poor this year looking at the trip adviser reports and customer stories in the sun etc.
TripAdvisor and newspaper stories =/= an accurate way to judge P&L for a business.

I doubt anyone on the board actually visited the place themselves to get a first hand view. Knowing these corporate types they will probably have spent money on mystery shoppers rather than experiencing it themselves.
The health of the brand is incredibly important to The LEGO Group, and the company is absolutely not run like most other companies of that size, mostly because it's a family-run privately owned business. I'd be willing to bet you that most, if not all, of the board members of KIRKBI have visited a Merlin park in the last few months (almost certainly LEGOLAND Billund).

Also, if you look at the one tourist attraction which is 100% run by The LEGO Group, LEGO House, you'll see that it's incredibly successful and run really well, with really high levels of visitor satisfaction. TLG have invested a LOT in the development and running of LEGO House; that gives me a lot of hope that the parks, under greater control of TLG/KIRKBI will have the right level of investment and will be run properly :)

Everyone going to scarefest opening today and I'm stuck going on 28th. God sake it's too long

Soon be here old boy.

Just a couple of thoughts re: Blade - could it be a case that they are just re-theming it? The work Towers have done on the mild-retheming of Enterprise seems to have been pretty well received and recent signage in the area would support this.

Also, and slightly outside the box - the land the Blade is on would make the perfect location for a station for something going into the valley.....
