Flamingo Land: General Discussion

I feel a bit dirty for saying this, but I’m actually a bit excited for this ride now.
Me too, I've ridden Colossus and its Chinese clone and both times thought the layout had potential, but were let down by the rough ride. Am excited to try this one and reacquaint myself with the Ultimate when I go to see family next year. :)

This coaster is deeply uninspiring but should be a fun one to ride unlike it's thorpe counterpart. Is it enough to get me though the gate at flamingo land? meh..

We don't get a Major coaster in the UK all too often so it's only natural. I'm sure it will be a good solid ride.....well until they let it get in the state Collosus has become anyway.

I haven't been to Mingoland in ages. I'll definitely be making a trip next year though but as I'm not a great fan of the place I doubt very much I will go back for repeat trips.

This plus I have a morbid curiosity to try hero!

Some more pictures thanks to Theme Park Insanity on Facebook:

I don't think the coaster itself looks so bad. The station building though is rather hideous.

A couple of images from the park of construction at the lowest point:

The man in the hi-vis in the second image looks about as busy as the creative teams were at Merlin for the UK developments this year.

It's fun to rag on the place, and I'm still going to, but this doesn't actually look too bad in person. Apart from the turd themed station building.

It’s a great investment for a park of their size. If Paultons we’re getting this they would be getting a lot more praise than mingo are

It would be a much larger statement if Paulton's had bought this; they'd essentially be stepping up into a whole new thrill market and exploring uncharted territory for themselves. With Mingo this isn't a risk they have to contend with.

Not that much different to Thorpe Park a few years back!

True. Although I don't go to Thorpe anymore. It's a 5 hr drive for me and it's clearly not worth it. Went down for Swarm and not been back since. Not even done DBGT yet although I don't think im missing much.

You'd like to hope it would be open for the start of the season, yes. Not sure anything has been officially announced though.

I think it will be earlier...Mingo had a very quiet summer last year because of the weather...trade only picked up in the last two weeks of summer, they want the money rolling in the tills.
Heard this from one of the zoo staff on her day off on the monorail at the end of last season, she said visitor numbers were well down on previous years.

Considering the track is about done and landscaping / theming will undoubtedly be nil I would be utterly shocked if it didnt open with the park

There are reports of problems with one of the tunnels on the ride, which is leading to a delay in construction of the coaster. And because of this, RCS have left to work on another job in Europe.

I did think it had all been coming along rather too well.
