As far as I am aware, several rides/attractions were always planned to be unavailable this (and next) weekend. This is the case every year.

Selfishly, i quite like the fact that by the time the park *actually* opens, most of these problems have been ironed out. In reality, it is regrettable. Really, it's too early for the park to be opening and they should sack it off. Just do one week in advance.

The season still has not begun. It starts on March 21st.
I think more people are annoyed at the usual style of towers not being honest. Even on Friday they said the only rides closed were blade and David Walliams. Yet they must have known wicker man wasn’t planned to be open. It had one staff member in reds at the entrance and no effects turned on. I guess the same for enterprise having no staff anywhere near it.

Other rides just had bad down time all weekend it seems. These hire days are basically the equivalent to the Thorpe Park annual pass day.

Well, hopefully the poor punters that did attend will, in future, not bother.

But I bet they won't. Some folk go to that wretched TP day every year.
Tbh I don't know how anyone who went is moaning. Doesn't it cost like £20? And that for nemesis, galactica, oblivion, rita, th13teen, spinball, RMT, rapids, hex, duel, sharkbait reef and cbeebies is absolute bargain imo.

I’d liken it to booking what you think is a great deal all inclusive to Spain, thinking you’re getting the full menu but you arrive and told all you can have are fries and hotdogs.

you can see all the steak sat there cooking but you’re not allowed it.

Literally 2 main rides in smiler and wicker. It's not like loads of rides were down

That's true tbf. Smiler and wicker man seem to be the ones everyone wants to get on
Plus they are both very noticeable from other areas of the park, so guests see them before they get to the area, plus Wicker Man is close to the entrance, and is the preferred first and last ride of many guests.

I think the other issues would be the lack filler rides such as the rapids, battle galleons, enterprise and blade which were all closed on Saturday.

And the rides which were open were on low capacity, which wouldn’t usually matter with only 6000 odd on park, but I guess when the two major coasters are closed the other coasters struggle.

With the first premier league football game being cancelled just this morning due to covid19 is it only a matter of time until towers announce a delayed opening?

I'm so fed up of this virus already now. It's ruining things and it's causing chaos so the sooner it disappears and never comes back, the better

No, I think they'll be open. If Pleasure Beach and all the American parks are still operating you can guarantee Towers will too.

I think people are kidding themselves if they don't think this virus isn't going to massively disrupt the TP industry. You will still get enthusiasts risking it but the GP will stay away in large numbers I would think until it dies down.

You've got to feel for Drayton of all places. They have the rapids accident still to contend with, they were flooded few weeks ago and had to cancel half term and now Corona virus is clearly going to harm gate numbers.

I think we will be heading for a Italy type lockdown in the next couple of weeks. I'd doubt the park will open if we are in that situation.

I hope I'm completely wrong, not just for the parks sake.
They could play it like the airlines. Close the park on days when it's expected to be quiet. This makes economic sense as zero hour workers don't have to be paid

Credit too TowersStreet below but does anyone else think, this looks absolutely awful? This tin shed arcade has no place in a high end theme park. Who is even responsible for this shabby refurb? I’m really disappointed in the park to be honest and slightly embarrassed for them. Colours hideous!
