TowersStreet Coaster Building Contest 2021/22: Winners Declared (Competition Ended 12th May)

OK everybody; the submission stage for Round 1 is now closed. Any submissions made from now onwards will not be counted (although as everyone apart from @Skyscraper, who already opted out of Round 1 a few posts back, has submitted, this doesn't apply to anyone currently in the competition).

So that means that we're now onto the voting stage, where points can be gained and people can begin to gain a lead in the competition!

Just as a reminder before we get onto the nitty gritty of how the voting stage works, here are the submissions from all competitors, with the username next to them so you know who to vote for if you liked a particular submission:
Exodus, a Mack HyperCoaster by @Matt N

RIP Loggers Leap x, an RMC IBox Track by @RicketyCricket

X-0dus, a B&M Hyper Coaster by @JAperson

Appropriate Length, a B&M Floorless Coaster by @Matt.GC

Molto Veloce, an Intamin Accelerator Coaster by @Thameslink Rail

Exobus, a B&M Inverted Coaster by @Poisson

Project Exodus Improved, a Mack HyperCoaster by @Burbs

Exodus, an Intamin Mega Coaster by @mo237

Exodus, an RMC hybrid coaster by @Matt878787

So those are all of the Round 1 submissions, there for you to view and rank at your pleasure!

Now I hear you asking "well if I'm supposed to vote, how on earth does voting work?". Well don't worry; I'm about to clear that up!

Basically, I would like each of you to post your top 5 layouts, ranked in order. Can I please request that you include the user who created the layout in each of your ranking spots, so I can keep an easier tally of the scores as voting progresses (going off of ride name alone would make things tough, as there are 3 Exoduses). You can include the ride name if you like or you can just post the user if you'd prefer, but if you could put usernames in there for each ranking, that would be terrific! I would also like you to nominate the layouts that you feel are Most Realistic and Most Original; these do not have to be from your top 5. So if I was posting my votes, I'd post something like this:
  1. @UserA
  2. @UserB
  3. @UserC
  4. @UserD
  5. @UserE
  • Most Realistic: @UserX
  • Most Original: @UserY
(Obviously you don't have to post exactly like that, but that's just a template to give you some idea. You can offer some explanation of your choices if you wish, or you can just post the users themselves without any explanation; it's entirely up to you!)

In terms of how the scoring works; each ranking within a list is weighted a certain amount, with a #1 ranking gaining the most points and a #5 ranking gaining the least points. The weightings are as follows:
  • #1 ranking gains 5 points
  • #2 ranking gains 4 points
  • #3 ranking gains 3 points
  • #4 ranking gains 2 points
  • #5 ranking gains 1 point
  • A vote for Most Realistic gains 1 Realism point, and a vote for Most Original gains 1 Originality point. These are logged separately to the overall points.
Before I let us jump into voting, let me just lay out one ground rule; please do not vote for yourself. Please exclude your own layout when casting your vote. I know that sounds harsh, but I feel that allowing votes for your own submission could unfairly skew the results.

So, I think that's just about everything. Whether you're a contestant or just a spectator; get voting, everybody! Voting for round 1 will close on 22nd February 2022 at 11:59pm.

Apologies in advance for the double post, everybody, as I will now lead by example and cast my own votes...
EDIT: Just as a memo, a log of both the overall competition scores and the scores for the current round are being kept in my initial post on page 1.

OK then, I think I've come to my decision for my votes...

Let me start by saying; great work, everybody! I got 9 very different submissions here that were all fantastic in their own way, and I had a really tough time deciding which submissions to vote for! With that in mind, please don't be insulted if you're not incldued in my list; it was a tough choice, and there are so many I could have included!

However, my top 5 are as follows:
  1. @Matt.GC
  2. @RicketyCricket
  3. @mo237
  4. @Burbs
  5. @Matt878787
  • Most Realistic: I'd have to go for @RicketyCricket here; a very realistic RMC, and definitely something I could see the company building!
  • Most Original: I'd have to go for @Poisson here; a hyper invert is a very unique response to the brief to begin with, and some of those elements were properly out there! And on the whole, I think you executed it really well!

@Matt.GC How did you manage to upload from PS Console in the end?
Sorry it's a bit late. I went into settings and then Linked Accounts and selected YouTube. It opens up the PlayStation browser and asks you for your Google login (for YouTube). It has the PlayStation logo so it looks like it's asking for your PSN login but it's not, it's actually after your Google/Android login. Once done, your PSN account is linked with YouTube. I then filmed my gameplay as usual with the share button on the controller. Afterwards I selected Share from the menu and selected YouTube. It took about 2 hours to upload and I didn't think it worked but it did eventually. Much easier on Xbox Live where my son uploads and shares all sorts every day.

Edit: If you share the clip with someone else on PSN (PS4 or 5) it is easy to upload. So PM me if you want to send it mate and I'll upload.

Okay my rankings as Matt said don't be offended if you aren't on here it simply means you aren't good enough, close but
no cigar I believe is the saying, only joking of course all the submissions were great and it was very hard to choose but here they are:
1. @RicketyCricket - a really good RMC with some great head chopper moments which I appreciated meaning I put it at the top)
2. @Matt.GC - a crazy B&M hyper with some interesting sections, interestingly the two B&M hyper's submitted mine and Matt's seem to both be very different too each other but also very different to a standard B&M hyper.
3. @Burbs - A really cool hyper with some great parts, not much else to say.
4. @Matt N - Similar to Burbs but a bit more realistic.
5. @Poisson
Most realistic: @Matt N (seems like a better version of the planning project and the longer layout with the same idea basically fits the scenario the best and seems like something Thorpe would've considered and then likely decided was too expensive).
Most unique: @Poisson (obvious choice this was, so different to anything else anybody did with some funky elements in fact even more funky than elements we see on the RMC's submitted).

Thanks @Matt.GC might take you up on that offer for the next challenge if that’s alright. Lodging my phone against a shoebox wasn’t the height of finesse I hoped it would be.

So my rankings..

1 - @RicketyCricket
2 - @Matt.GC
3 - @Poisson
4 - @Matt N
5 - @mo237

Most realistic (this category can be a bit vague) so my take on realistic is the least likely to cause a brain aneurysm. @Matt.GC

Most creative - @Poisson creation is the most of the box without being ridiculous.

1. @Matt N - Packed with airtime, good fit for Thorpe
2. @mo237 - A brutal airtime machine, perhaps a touch too violent in places but my kind of ride
3. @Matt.GC - Perfect transitions and Inversions. Not sure it would be particularly comfortable though with B&M shoulder restraints at those speeds!
4. @Burbs - A decent all round coaster
5. @Matt878787 some sections seem a tad too long and drawn out for an RMC but very smooth transitions and would capture the speed of a Hyper nicely

Most realistic - @Burbs
Most unique - @Poisson
