Thoosies...Why the hate?
Craig, I can only apologise if you suddenly started taking me seriously.
I thought you knew me better by now.
Closed season.
Too much frost and snow to go to work.
Bored with white emulsion.
What else is there to do but wind up the mods on my favourite site...
Makes a change from Gibraltar, that was much more fun!

a certain team member on here having a love of a certain supermarket back in the day - and so a filter (that was in place forever, not just a short period - even coming to this forum for a while!) was in place that renamed said supermarket to "Lidl round the back of the Hotel Colosseo" on every occasion.
Ahhhh the supermarket that shall never be named… how I ended up coming to loathe it in so many different ways.
I’m more of an Aldi gal now anyway

Might even say I’m an Aldi thoooooosie too.
..… nope just urgh that ****** word.

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows, she comes and goes
Goodbye, Ruby Foosie
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still, I'm gonna miss you.
Even the Rolling Stones know a foosie when they see one.

Just catching up on this thread after being away for a few days. I honestly can’t believe that in a conversation about the “T” word someone actually bought up the “N” word and seemed to make a comparison about their usage. Maybe the mods should just lock this whole thing and call it a day for everyone’s sake if people are going to come up with ridiculous things that.
Why stifle the debate?Just catching up on this thread after being away for a few days. Absolute opposite point of view here...Lock the thread???
Now that would be censorship!
However ridiculous things may seem from an individual perspective, it is all a bit of entertaining conversation to see us through to the "Middle of March".
Debate foosies and censorship.
What else is a poor gardener to do in all this frost and snow?
Something sensible?
Edit...and for clarification Shaggy, the "T" word, which one...there are at least two come to mind!
I'm not offended by either, but some seem to hate both.

The “T” word as in a certain type of enthusiast.
I’m sorry, I was just a bit shocked that someone was bringing the “N” word in to a conversation about a term related to roller coaster enthusiasts. I think perhaps people need to remember that the “N” word is for many groups of people one that is genuinely still offensive and maybe it’s worth considering that before casually tossing it in as a comparison to word related to a coaster enthusiast. For me that totally trivialises nature of the “N” word and the offence and hurt that would be caused by referring to a person of colour by that term.

It does seem like more and more words are becoming swear words. These days, both rape and Hitler seem to be swears, although I don't think they have been for very long. What about retard then?
My customers (three) had no idea it was now an ultimate nasty.

I had no idea that the latter two that @zeock just mentioned were swear words, and while the one that @rob666 mentioned is definitely an insult that I would never personally say to someone, I wouldn’t have called it a “swear word” per se… although I guess you could ask yourself what the definition of a “swear word” actually is.
Onto the topic of the now-censored t word that spawned this topic’s creation… I’m still not a huge fan of it myself, although I admittedly don’t really do nicknames of that vein.
I can’t say that I don’t shorten things; my forum username is a shortened version of my legal name, for a start, and I’m terrible for abbreviating things on here (I’ve used acronyms like RMT, BPB, DBGT, CWOA and TWODW countless times…).
However, I don’t really do the affectionate nicknames for things; things like Nemmy, Blivvy, Poccy, Sylvia, Bloofi, Chessie etc don’t really register in my vocabulary. I just refer to them as their regular names rather than resorting to their nicknames, and the “t” word is no different; I just say “enthusiast” rather than resorting to any nickname, shortening or alternative word.
It is clearly a contentious issue, though, and I’ll admit that that does surprise me.

Crazy ain't it? To me the "N" word is one that should be shouted loud and proud. No one should hide from the fact that they are one, take back the word as a positive to stop people using it as a slur.Just catching up on this thread after being away for a few days. In fact, we're in the Tavern so I'll say it anyway. My name is Craig, and I am a... northerner.
