[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Id be interested to hear from a single soul who went on Nemesis in the last 30 years and came away remembering "the army" that never existed in the theme, other than a reference in a comic book nobody read.

It feels like this Mandela effect is the only reason for even including the Phalanx, not because anyone actually like the Phalanx. Everyone hated it in Sub Terra too.

Does anyone think it would make Nemesis more enjoyable? There are better ways to reinvent the ride in my opinion, which I hope they go for.

I have been riding Nemesis since the year it opened. It had an Authoritarian post apocalyptic vibe prior to Air opening. It had a feeling that the military had been there but certainly not that they still where.

But I quite like the Phalanx story, I enjoyed that part of N:ST to be fair. I didn’t like the shouting but that was an aesthetic choice that didn’t need to be made just because it had a military theme, (the military tend to be polite and courteous with the public unless they have reason not to be so shouting people in the ride never made sense even with that theme).

You can’t get the post apocalyptic vibe back quite as easily in that area since Air opened as the area feels more open and less contained than it did previously. I’m fairly relaxed with the direction they are taking so long as they do it well.

I don’t however want the phalanx plastered everywhere, Nemesis should remain the star of the show.

Your not wrong dave making a post apocalyptic scene again would be practically and an engineering nightmare,
But nemesis will always be the star of the show ,but with merlin being practical masters of deception who knows what thay have in store for us.
But as nemesis is a ground dwelling creature im sure its little feelers may have made it to the hole of oblivion and probably started a little something over in x sector....
Would be nice to see a new set of veins finding there way up and out of the hole....

It did where coffee lounge is now credit to Euro Theme Park Archive for the image!

Forbidden Valley really was a triumph of world building and theming, and not just by '94 standards.

I really hope Nemesis 2.0 triggers a spruce up of the area.

Not one part of the original theming is up to scratch for a 'new' attraction - I'd like to see a new entrance tower, a new bus (though track going in with the bus in situ probably means it isn't being replaced), new 'camp' under the lift and on the stall turn, new 'mole' at the top of the Valley, and a redo of the station, inside and out. Is that asking too much, maybe?

I was thinking about the waterfalls the other day and potential solutions, and a crazy idea came to mind. Some sort of transparent piping, shaped like veins? Maybe even just a web of red veins creeping up where the waterfalls are now, with the water cascading down them? It would be great to have such an iconic feature reimagined and returned to the pit.

New versus old.

I appreciate the effort and time spent putting the design on the track, but where the track joins, and the paint effect stops and starts again ruins the effect for me. It still looks more like a root than a Tentacle to me as well, reminds me a bit of the intro to the Last of Us. The new paint scheme does make the track stand out a lot more against the background.

Hopefully everything is going to get some fresh paint from the fences, to the bus, to the maintenance shed.

Not sure why the entrance Tower or bus need replacing? Repainting the bus yes, I'd support the binning of the camps but the Tower and the Drill look fine

What do you mean by 'mole' at the top of the valley? Sorry if it's a daft question - I'm intrigued.

Edit - I've just got it.

Replace was maybe extreme, "heavily refurbished" is more what I meant.

The entrance tower no longer looks like a recent structure made of scrap, it just looks like scrap. The drill last time I saw it looked like scrap covered in uncooked mince.

But I suppose it depends on the backstory of Nemesis 2.0. Are the events of '94 canon and we're now 30 years on, or are we resetting the timeline? If the latter, I don't see how a rotten bus (as opposed to just a crashed, smoking, abandoned one) fits, or indeed any of the structures and elements that are showing three decades of wear.

Regardless, the whole thing is fascinating - I'm as excited to see what they do with the rest of the area as I am with the ride itself!

I really get the feeling that not only with the new colour scheme of the track, but also the new Blade entrance which is black, we may be seeing an end to the rusty post apocalyptic Forbidden Valley.

I think Nemesis v1 is a product of its time in its execution and needs to be modernised somewhat.

If I am right it will be sad to see it go, but much like with Alty Mans we will all get over it.

From my own experience when I entered forbidden Valley just over 5 years ago for the first time when I was still a kid, no way is Nemesis V1 a product for its time, I was absolutely wetting myself when I first entered the area and hearing that soundtrack! No other park or area, old or new, has seemingly made me feel like that ever since, and that's saying something!

I'm really hoping they don't repaint everything to black, the rust looks wicked!! I'm kinda sick and tired of Merlin seemingly having a big fixation on using colours like grey and black on their rides and buildings, there's no character in it, and it just feels... boring...

I firmly believe that the entire post apocalyptic theme is still a very cool theme, especially when it's retro Sci-fi styled. Look at the swarm, that's a apocalyptic theme, and people praise it as Merlins best themed ride. It actually has a lot of similarities between Forbidden Valley, such as the derelict buildings, and the abandoned and destroyed vehicles and machines. I think it proves that Forbidden Valley is still works in terms of theming and doesn't need modernising. Does it need a big TLC project? Absolutely, but I think the whole rustic post-apocalyptic Sci-fi theme of the area is still the countries most unique and creative area to exist.

Always been my favourite area of the park, late 90's/early 00's, Ripsaw going full pelt, crowds of spectators, no out of place retro squad blasting out 80's cheese, back then with the Nemesis nosh bus, blood rivers, no awkward pathways pre Air, to me it felt immersive and is one of my best memories of Towers. Now we have Chesney Hawkes and a highstreet style Costa Coffee.

I am however optimistic for FV in 2024, no point in polishing a turd if you're going to leave skid marks around the pan.

All looks a bit too "clean" to me. The new track is very different and doesn't suit FV in it's current state at all. Just touching up, cleaning and maintaining whatever is currently there will look silly. Coherently painting the monster and drill black and red is now a must. The pit will have to be thoroughly stripped back to rock and cleaned (but we all know it'll back to its current state in just a few years and never be touched ever again). The post apocalyptic rust aesthetic won't match either. It looks like an X Sector coaster has had Go Faster stripes painted on it and dumped inside FV.

Looks like they're going for this whole military nonsense theme, so now have to go the whole way and finish it by making it blend together.

I think the theme is still going to be very much Nemesis and the Nemesis monster. It makes perfect sense to go over the top with the Phalanx side of the story whilst the ride is closed as it can be made out that something is happening with the monster and they are investigation. But once it re-opens again it will very much be Nemesis as the star of the show. Sure they might be a bit more reference to the Phalanx but I don't think it will be in the same way as Sub-Terra.

As for how it is coming together, we really do need to wait until the whole project is finished before judging the overall look. I'd be shocked if they left the station building looking as it does right now for example.
