[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Still have mixed feelings about this ride, the drop is obviously going to be amazing but it is very short (not definitely a problem), and they have gone for a lot of inversions over airtime it seems.

But deciding whether a coaster is going to be good before it opens is always a mugs game so we will see, I really hope it lives up to the hype.

freddycoasterkid on CoasterForce has made an excellent discovery; from a zoomed in picture of the plans held by a construction worker, it would appear that Hyperia will have a single rider queue! The picture clearly shows four queues, one of which is labelled as a single rider queue if you look closely:

This is excellent news, in my view! It’ll certainly make it easier for me to ride Hyperia on my solo visits to the park, anyhow!

That's very good! I will probably be on my own riding Hyperia during most visits to the park.

According to TPWW, there was an England flag attached before it was replaced by a Union Jack flag at the last minute...likely not to offend those in the British Isles who aren't English by chance? :p
That would explain why the Union Flag looks like a large print out rather than an actual flag!

It cannot be denied that the lift and first drop look incredibly impressive. I love the view from across the lake, however no matter how good it does look from that angle it does also help you realise just how short the layout is. Hopefully what is there will be good enough to make that only a minor problem.

Looks like one of the queues leads to the wheelchair lift, in which case I'd assume that ambulant RAP will use the FT entrance (although most rides had combined RAP and FT queues split a couple of seasons back).

Also, does that plan have the viewing area on it? We know that got cut...

Seeing from some videos there were that many people on Monks Walk the park missed a trick not charging people to watch the days action from a safe vantage point inside the park.

I think monks walk was actually a better view / advantage point!

The flags where facing towards monks walk and if you where on site you wouldn't have seen them

I do find it slightly strange that the park themselves have not posted anything about the topping off, especially has it has been so widely publicised elsewhere.

I assume they are working on some sort of video showing it, which they will release later today or tomorrow. Did they have a drone up whilst topping it off to get it on film?

Jack Silkstone and Keiran Adams were on site yesterday recording and taking snaps for the park. I should imagine there will be content of it on the park's social media accounts in the next few days.

Yeah Jack and Kieran where on site with drones and there's two go pros on the track. One here and then the other the other side.

I'm sure we will see the footage tonight or tomorrow.

The ride looks great ... anyone have any idea of opening? I would imagine early May, or even whitsun half term ?
Prices on the website for day tickets are £29 right up to April 26th when it goes up. It's possible that this is due to entering the next financial year in April, although that would be at the start of April. So i'm guessing this price rise is probably something to do with Hyperia.

Has anyone else noticed that Hyperia seems to be getting quite a bit of panning online by 'enthusiasts'? I'm guessing it is simply the case that they have ran out of drivel to spout about the ride and resorted to negativity to garner reactions. Madness!

The ride looks amazing (bar the paint job!). I have seen the POV's and had a good look at the layout and still can't work out what the ride experience will be like. I have no doubt it will be pretty intense in parts, fast in others but apart from that... I can't work it out. I'm really looking forward to getting on it.

It's a short ride. That hits major trim breaks before it is even over, to account for the fact it could have easily been twice as long, with an extra million spent on it.
Enthusiasts are always going to be frustrated by that.

Otherwise though I think the majority of people have been positive about it. There's a lot to like and it will be very unique. I just think a lot of people were hoping for a good length airtime machine as the UK's next hyper coaster.

If however you are referring to all these recent clickbait videos with title like 'how Hyperia will mean the end of Thorpe Park', then that's just people shamelessly shilling for cash...
