I can’t work out from the website if it ever got approved?Not directly Pleasure Beach related, but may be of interest - South Pier have submitted plans to build a Star Flyer and a Log Flume, on land either side of their entrance arcade.
I can imagine an objection going in from a Mrs. Thompson

I can see though that it received a single objection (which is 21 pages long) from you never guess who!!
The Big Ben Star Flyer is now in the UK currently being built up for testing for the first time, so would be interesting to see if it turns up on the prom.

I like how, amongst the many reasonable arguments, Mr. Laister finds space to critique the original planning document author's grammar!
It would certainly be incongruous for the planners to approve the plan having rejected a previous one for a log flume, but then presumably there is a reason beyond viciousness that one of the foremost amusement park planners was instructed...

The old log flume, they were allowed to put it on the promenade temporarily while they repaired the pier, then they left it there after that period expired and tried to get permanent permission which was refused, appealed and that was also refused.
There is a mess of "agreed development" planning regarding the prom.
The Beach and council agreed no other attractions on the prom from the South Pier to Star Gate as part of the deal of the park owners giving up prom space they owned for the "new" promenade when it was widened.
"From" the south pier had been debated for about six decades, the land to each side of the south pier is managed by the pier, and supposedly has general permission for attractions, managed by the pier, though individual larger rides must have planning.
Mandy has defended the old ruling...as did her dad.
The legitimacy of the original "no development" argument has been tested over the years, but no clear cut ruling has been made, each development has tested the original agreement.

I could see why BPB was keen to fight against these attractions ("of the worst kind," as WGT put it) when the park was in its thriving, free-entry, PPR heyday. Decades later, and now that it essentially operates as a gated, POP day out, I think the argument is weaker and prettier.
Mandy can't help being pretty...and stop calling her an argument.
Stuff always opens late in Blackpool, especially in the wet, and it has been shocking wet and windy this morning.
No Big One is no deal in this wind, all the rest are open bar the National, which may actually open on Friday.

You know it is school trip season when the Streak has the longest queue on the park...and all the thrill rides have an hours queue.
Not that I do ridetimes.

Sorry this is simply not good enough and we need to stop making excuses for the park. Poor ops staggered openings and bad weather excuses are getting tiring, it's not as if tickets are any cheaper

Maybe Mandy's trying to re-live they olden days (80s) when rides were running at max capacity and the queues were still like that.
The queues were never like that back in the eighties, nothing was longer than ten minutes apart from the big new ride at the time.
I never waited more than ten minutes for the national in twenty years...apart from early season 20p/50p weekends...then pay one price doubled queues overnight.
And not that I do ridetimes, but Blackpools queues today are only about ten minutes more than comparable at the Towers.

Really disappointed in operations this season, particularly the staggered openings / early ride closures.
I called in on Mon 2 June during the afternoon, on a 5pm close. The Big One (single train) only had the front 2 cars open, which is an absolute joke when the station was mostly full (to the scanner, so just the back line vacant). As I got on, it did look like staff were about to make the middle car available, but from what I could see, the queue justified at least 4 cars, and possibly the full train.
Due to the absurd amount of time I had to wait to get on one of only 6 rows available, I didn’t get off in time to ride Steeplechase which closed at 4. Big Dipper, which is normally great for rides in the last hour, also closed at 4.
Streak closed at 4 along with the whole of Nick Land (I’ve never understood why that area shuts an hour before the rest of the park). Grand National still shut for maintenance. No woodies available after 4pm. Ghost Train also shut at 4. What used to be a fun late afternoon on the park has become a frustrating game of ‘spot the open ride’.
On Tue 17 June, lots of school trips, Big One queue to the bottom of the ramp, but by mid afternoon it had closed.
Big Dipper (still single train) dispatch poor due to scanner operator chatting to ops cabin staff for several minutes after emptying punters off train, and then chatting again after checking train empty. Dipper was on 12-4, so basically nobody could enjoy that last hour on it after the trips had left. Really poor, especially with Nash shut & Streak also shutting at 4, Big Dipper should be open to the end.
They don’t do themselves any favours at all. At least the company and kebabs were good. I hope renewals don’t rocket next season or I’m out

Where is the best kebab place around. I love a good kebab. The chippy down the bottom of the road the Velvet Coaster is on, was spectacular last year.

Kebab Hut (street opposite South Pier, Station Road). On your right as you walk inland. Opens around 5 midweek
12-4 on Dipper is very poor indeed. When will the second train be back I wonder. Big One farcical with all the messing about with sandbags, etc. Not worth it with queue on ramp, especially if not a full train

Rob loves the place, and has eaten there for many years, nearest dodgy kebab to the main entrance.
Dippy has been a more recent convert, and is about to step into the discovery of the full menu.
Shakey looked up the official scores on the doors review, and quickly ran off...
I haven't died yet.
Kebabs to be eaten under the protection of the curved sea well, above the beach steps, or the seagulls with flick knives come in over the shoulder.
Then dippy complains that the volvo seatbelts are too tight.
