With the forecast planning law changes, you can expect housing to be built wherever there is a suitable, economic plot.
So I can see them getting planning for houses right next to a theme park, quickly and easily.
Like the flats built right up to the edge of the Beach in the sixties, right across the road from the Streak.
And Drayton has houses right next door too.

Can I just say if they were to build these houses I for one would be happy to buy one.

There is a lot of housing being built a few miles away already, hence the need for the new rail station

Housing around there won't be affordable for people on minimum wage. Only way they'll do that is if it's subsidised through benefits and/or social/council housing, or living with parents. Like pretty much most of the country really, apart from pockets here and there of ex-mining towns in the north etc.

Won’t they need affordable housing near to the site anyway for the inevitably minimum wage army of team members to live in?
It would be an excellent excuse to build a general small block of serviced flats as staff accommodation on the edge of the park though.

I heard several stories about the Cedar Point staff accommodation being completely restructured over time to minimise the party house syndrome...
Likewise the Beach have had issues with staff boarding houses.
Allegedly.

Surely once this has been rubber stamped the land around the site will instantly go up in value which then makes the proposition of building housing estates infinitely more expensive for the developers. Sure they could but how many people would want to pay a now premium price to live right next to a theme park.

Depends if you have already purchased the land.

Some interesting stuff in there.

Tallest coaster element can dwarf hyperia, and their expected visitor numbers on day one are greater than the four biggest Merlin parks combined.

footprint is smaller than islands of adventure initially, but its proposed to become one of the top 10 parks globally within 20 years.

Am I reading this right or could the rumours of a direct Eurostar service directly to the site be true?

That direct Eurostar purple line goes all the way to Bedford and there’s definitely no Eurostar service to Bedford atm.

While both serve St. Pancras, HS1 and Midland Mainline aren’t connected to each other so not sure how they’ll pull that off.

I assume the other "stop" on the map is Luton airport?

I imagine it's probably an oversight but I will need to wait for some influencers to funnel all this into chatgpt and summarise it for me.

One thing it does show is that it was always on the cards - WSP don't come cheap and it looks like they were engaging with the likes of the national grid and Cadent at least 12-18 months ago.

Given that they have closed every "international" station bar St Pan, I'll believe it when I see it.
Granted, but with competitors now wanting to run other services alongside Eurostar and with this park attracting 8+ million people it’s interesting to think about.

Could have direct services between DLP and UGB.
