Scarefest 2025

Thought that might've been some sort of performance area at the back there, until I saw this:

Nice to have seating and lighting there, but rubbing it in using Oktoberfest stuff! 🤬

*(yes I know it was used in Scarefest too, but allow me to still be bitter about Oktoberfest being cancelled)

At least they are recycling which is good rather then just throwing in the trash.

The freaky friends should get their own attraction or area along with the other Alton Towers character mascots

Just in case it interests people, I’m at the park this week and I just passed a group of people wearing RWS polo shirts, leaving Dark Forest

I saw some Alton Towers staff in red polos walking through Katanga Canyon earlier, in case it interests people.

Sorry. I couldn’t resist. In all seriousness though, yes. You will see that. That is to be expected.

It’s the first year they’re doing it - I figured someone might be interested in the goings on ;)

Some new theming around the front of the towers:

This looks brilliant, the event this year definitely looks like they’ve taken on the feedback about how the event only felt it was in certain places. It looks more comprehensive but still relatively light-touch, but it’s the little things that make the difference.

You know something is going right when I get Scarefest VIBES from the pictures alone!

Looks like although they’ve cut the amount of events, the ones that remain are having more budget.

It’s good to see
I do agree it’s great to see added theming, however I can imagine these props did not cost as much as the large Main stage they had on the lawns the last few years.

I’ll try to reserve judgement until I visit but from the outside looking in it definitely feels like a reduction in budget because of the loss of the stage area on the lawns.

It doesn't necessarily matter how much you spend, it's how you spend it that really counts.

It may have cost them less to theme other areas of the park than running the main stage, but if it feels more immersive for the guest throughout their day (rather than one fixed location), it's arguably better spent.

I was there yesterday, whilst they may not have built the main stage, there is quite a bit of work happening on in the court yard with what looks like a stage being built and (at least form the outside) it looks much more substantive and quite a bit better than previous years, don't forget that the main stages planning permission was up quite soon (and it wasn't easy to get, if I recall it was a comprimise where AT wanted like 10 years, but the council gave them 5)

So who is putting up and designing all these new probs this year if In house teams are gone?

Clearly someone has a new eye for it?
As this appears to me the most ā€œexternalā€ addition theming we have had in a very long time & not just clustered on towers street.

The stage set up on the lawns might come back in the future with additional to this theming so good use of the budget if this is true. But it’s not essential to have a hub, if the entertainment and food trucks are spread across the park in my opinion.

Surprised that the Edge of the Forest entrance is where the Darkest Depths entrance was, because weren't they building some permanent-looking theming Dark Forest side of the building? That could be the exit as such, but it's weird that they'd put budget into theming an attractions exit, unless they want a showpiece runout that people can see from the Rita midway, a bit like there was with Sub Species.
