Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

Impossible is seriously dated to be honest and needs to be removed in my opinion.

What year did it first open anyway? I know a few of the older rides got renamed, so can’t find much information on it.

I kinda like Impossible it a weird and wacky attraction quite unique miss Haunted Swing

According to this post by @shakey, it's either 1954 or 1955 depending on your source. He goes into further detail in the post.
According to a couple of different sources, Haunted Swing opened in either 1954 or 1955 (depending which one you go with) but it isn't mentioned on Ricks map, which could put the map no later than 1954. Or maybe they just didn't bother mentioning it on the map.

I rode it back in the late sixties, and it was a bit rickety and clapped out back then.
It may be in the Century of Fun book, will dig it out.

Done my homework, not the century of fun book, the recent, square large paperback one...created by the Beach, so I presume the acceptable source.
The Haunted House opened in 1955.
Impossible...2002.
So there.

Impossible was a combination of 1001 Troubles and the Haunted Swing, which used to be separate attractions. 2002 would have been the year the two were combined into one and were renamed as Impossible.

Whilst I see the similarities, it certainly isn’t a carbon copy of Ripleys. There aren’t really exhibitions in Impossible the way there are in Ripleys.

Now the original Ripleys, next to the waxworks, was amazing.
I could (and did) spend a whole rainy day in there back in the seventies.
The current one next to the Beach is about a quarter of the size of the old one.

After a couple of years worth of speculation, I am proud to be the first to show you new development at the River Caves:

On a slightly more serious note, there seemed to be work going on inside as I could hear timber sawn and hammering. I suspect this is more for Journey to Hell, rather than the normal ride, though. Just across the way at Aviktas, you can now clearly see where the supports will go, and there's a lot of work going on at the site. Watson Road remains closed, to allow plant access, and trades of all description have had vans there in recent weeks. The ramp past River Caves has now had a lot of the walls below it removed, so you can see the pillars holding it up (observable from Big One, don't think that will be viewable outside the park currently).

Elsewhere in the park, the new garden area has had its sleepers painted dark green, and work was underway earlier to repaint the Laughing Man's box.

Just got an email saying the offer on platinum season passes ends tomorrow. And for the first time ever I’ve gone ahead and purchased one; £125 is too good a price!

I didn’t realise they offered visits to partner parks and having just come back from Europa Park this weekend I feel ill definitely get use of it abroad!

Still haven't got mine. To be honest I have become more and more disalusiioned with the park over the last two or three years.

The new ride next year isnt really filling me with excitement and I am not even sure I want to go on it.

Operations are at an all time low and I have a feeling we still haven't hit rock bottom.

The park is a shadow of its former self and while I still enjoy the occasional visit , I just don't have anything positive to say about the place.

I am looking forward to the jolly boys weekend on Saturday but it will be more about the company than the rides.

OOh err shakey, I thought it was next weekend...
You seen the forecast then?

We will be joined by Humberto, I may be in the bar...gales do endless damage to my arthritic knees.

Likewise, if Rob is in two minds about a pass, things must be bad.

Park half closed, the other half opens late or closes early.

May get a pass at Christmas, in the next sale, or the one after, but then again...

I’ll probably get the discounted pass today, but agree that the place doesn’t fill me with excitement anymore.

New spinny isn’t my thing at all, though it should be good for the park. Poor ops this season with Dipper on 12-4 opening some days, single train all season, then closed all of Sept. Usual painfully slow dispatch on Nash.

Big One closed at the slightest bit of wind. 1, 2 or 3 cars often sandbagged when it is open. Valhalla never open for very long. Grand Prix gone and replaced with some gardens. River Caves still closed.

No sign of a new coaster (and the last one wasn’t very good), and everything is looking tired.

The place hasn’t been the same since Wild Mouse closed.

One positive thing, however small, is the new scenes in W&G. The Norbots are ace. A great ride just got even better.

No, they are still there, just invisible.
That is why the disco is still on, and they have made the sign invisible too.
To match Impossible you see.
They are just completing the science to keep them invisible while moving.
Then they will reopen, and one will be not seen trundling along the prom on the Bike The Lights night.
Keep the faith.

Pleasure beach could easily pad out Thier flat ride offering with a couple of affordable investments. Get the dodgems back, and get a Hiss Breakdance & a new pirate ship, they could even put the Breakdance where shkyforce is and liven up that area

They could but they wont. Thats the effect of POP.

No need for filler rides, they don't attract punters into the park and they incur extra staffing for very little benefit.

Now with a PPR system they would be plonking rides everywhere.
