Six Flags Quiddiya

Wonder how much of that is related to the specific geophysical requirements i.e. reinforcing that cliffside they are using etc.

Potentially cheaper if they just need to build an absolutely massive steel lift hill using pilings etc.

Not a clue to be honest. I suspect a 600ft tall lift hill, thus not using the cliff, would still cost a fair chunk of change but yeah you're probably right it would perhaps be a little cheaper.

I can see the appeal of using the cliff though. It does add some character and more thrill to the ride for sure. Will it prove problematic for operations though? Lets hope not.

I love it. Almost all my favourite outdoor coasters are due to the terrain. FLY, Nemesis etc. Such an under appreciated part of coasters i think.

But yes, cliff top evacuation might not be fun. Although isn't the park in a valley and the cliff top is actually "ground" level?

If nothing else you're at "ground" level when you're at the top of the cliff so an evac if you were stuck halfway could be a climb to the top or the bottom.

I'd be more concerned about seismic activity or rockslides etc than anything else purely due to it being a cliffside but even that is incredibly low risk for the area.

From the footage I have seen thus far, I’m not sure a block break has been installed immediately prior to the vertical cliff drop (I could be wrong). This surprised me especially after watching ML Design’s No Limits 2 video. I reckon the last control point before the cliff drop will be the 100mph second launch up the hill. If they’ve profiled it correctly to prevent a cliff top stall that would remove the need for a cliff top evac which would be absolutely mental. Looking forward to the nye vlogs and seeing this thing up close.

He mentions Falcons Flight doesn’t open till the official opening day. Interesting they’re having all these previews but not letting anyone on that yet.
Understandable really, they're probably using the time to iron out the potential teething issues as best as they can before the official opening day.

Does seem a slight concern if no one has actually been on the ride until it opens, we always know as soon as people start riding rides they tend to have loads of technical issues

Check out the Youtube channel for Lifts Hills and Thrills if you want to see POV's. He's out there for next 2 weeks riding all these coaster during previews. Would also appear that the Arabs paid for him to fly out there, first class too no less, judging by his recent video. What an experience that must be if you ignore the politics involved.

At least you have the self awareness to acknowledge the politics involved, which is seemingly more than can be said for our intrepid explorer.

It is truly remarkable how quickly a moral compass demagnetises when presented with a lie flat seat and an invitation to the desert. We have officially moved past sportswashing and entered the era of "coasterwashing."

It turns out the price of integrity for a UK vlogger is surprisingly affordable for the Saudi Public Investment Fund; a plane ticket and a go on a prototype Intamin.

I look forward to his rigorous, impartial journalism regarding the construction conditions and labour rights used to build the park... or I suspect we will just get 20 minutes of screaming, a montage of the first class lounge and a complete glossing over of the regime paying for his holiday.

I also trust he is fully up to date with the ASA and CMA guidance on declaring "payment in kind" and "gifted experiences" as advertisements? Because if the Saudi state paid for the flight, the hotel, and the access, it is an advert. It isn't a vlog.

If anyone ever needs to report an influencer who isn't following ASA guidance, you can do so here: https://www.asa.org.uk/make-a-complaint.html

The implication here is that there was a moral compass to begin with.
Well, I wouldn't want to cast aspersions... but I guess if your entire business model is predicated on the sycophantic praise of corporate entities in exchange for early access and a goody bag, it is perhaps a little optimistic to expect a sudden development of geopolitical ethics.

I suppose if you are willing to feign excitement over a repainted flat ride at Drayton Manor Park and Zoo for the sake of "content", accepting a first class ticket from a regime with a questionable human rights record is merely the next logical step on the ladder of compromising one's integrity for views.

Yeah, without derailing the thread too much, I never really assumed Theme Park Vloggers to be an extremely adversarial bunch. Like most similar gigs it depends entirely on access and you're not going to get that access by reviewing things with anything other than the Youtube Thumbnail Face.

Back on track though, looking at some of the POVs, the theming at this park sure does look Six Flags quality, which is to say, not great. The clone of Poseidon at Europa Park looks like it's in a parking lot, the finale tunnel has been entirely removed and the epic splashdown waterfall looks more like a light shower.

Pretty decent gig to be chosen as their exclusive vlogger. The ad revenue on the Falcon's Flight POV alone when it lands would earn you a tidy little bit of pocket money.

I did wonder why they chose him amongst all the vloggers for exclusivity though. Nothing against the lad at all but there are channels with far more subs and bigger reach than he has. Bit random really but yeah he will be loving life and when that FF POV drops he's going to make a small fortune for sure.

Presumably there was a bidding process though and he won it so fair play.

Just watched his 33 min vlog and the park does look superb in some places but I think a bit underwhelming in others. The coasters are without a doubt the main attraction. The two shooting dark rides looked very dull and screen heavy though.
