Queue Times Discussion 2026

Folks are likely aware, but just incase not - you can always just check queue times at https://www.ride-times.co.uk/ so it doesn’t really matter that the park block them on the app.
This is what I use all the time anyway. Gives a bit of nostalgia. I remember years ago seeing Air on 50 mins and thinking wow that’s a long queue for Air not often you see that. Now it happens all the time😭

Huge queues at Towers today. Just looked at the queue times and Nemesis, Galactica and Wickerman all on 130-minutes! Bluey on 120. Gangsta Granny is even on 70. Wow.
Not helped by at least 9 Rides being either closed or not open. The capacity monsters Monorail, Skyride, Runaway Mine Train and Congo River Rapids reallg help sosk up crowds

Last day of decent warm weather in the school holidays.
Not really surprising at all.
Blackpool has hour or so queues today as well, without a billion season pass holders.
Combined with the 2 for 1 parks offer as well for the southern parks probably.

It isn't simply 'oh it's the holidays' or 'oh its good weather'.

Factor in the lack of Runaway Mine Train, Congo River Rapids and (much less so) Battle Galleons, add in the lack of capacity on some rides and its no wonder.

If the park operated rides properly and had everything open, I would wager those 120 minute waits could be reduced by 20 to 25%.

But this is the Alton Towers of the mid 2020s.

When I checked earlier, there were 13 rides with a queue time of an hour or more and 5 of those were at least 90 minutes. Most of the firework days I've been to have seen shorter queues for the major rides

With multiple major rides closed and several others on low capacity, the queue times are a reflection of the serious issues that have become endemic over the past few years.

I assume Wickerman and Galactica still only have 2 out of 3 trains ready still as well?

Pirate Falls at Legoland and Tiger Rock at Chessington have been getting 90-minute queues regularly over the last couple of days. Imagine how much of an impact having Congo open would have…

It's the same story across all the Merlin parks the last few days even without many advertised ride closures.

Thorpe has had arguably worse queue times, Chessington and Legoland haven't been too far behind and they both had nearly all rides operating (and naturally breaking a lot too).

I don't think Zodiac or Blue Barnacle would have made much of a dent in the queue times.

This is Merlin of the mid 2020s, get used to it.

Thorpe Park also has Tidal yet to open, and Depth Charge was closed today.

I imagine having Tidal Wave and Rumba Rapids open would help take the pressure off the queue a bit the last few days...
