Alton Towers Time Machine, what year are you going to?

With all the recent SW7 construction, I was thinking about how I've always wanted to visit The Black Hole, from the photos I've seen it seemed like a ride I'd really enjoy. This led me to think, that if you'd made a discovery behind a crypt, underground or in a vault... and you'd found a time machine, what year would you like to visit and why?

So for me it'd be 2004 just in time to get a ride on The Black Hole, or even well before when, shock horror, the park was a stately home. The idea of Alton Towers as a Victorian escape seems fascinating as well.

So buckle up your seats, where are you going in The Alton Towers time machine...?

Thomas.

I'd probably go to 2022 to see what state the park is in with 10 years advancement. Would I be shocked? Or would I be surprised? I'd get to see SW7, the two new attractions of 2014 and possibly SW8 and any of the other future developments. I'm just intrigued to see how the park will be holding out not too far ahead in the future, but enough to see several new additions or even removals.

At this rate, it'll look something like this:

I'd want to return to the year 2000 (When Busted didn't outsell Michael Jackson ;]) since I don't have enough memories of my first visit next to being able to see what Hex was initially like in its opening season. It would just be nice to see how different Alton Towers was in comparison to 10 years later. I think any visitors from 2000 would be a little bit... Shocked :p

1994 for the opening of Toyland Tours and Nemesis. That must have been such an awesome time to be an Alton Towers fan! Shame I was only 1 and couldn't remember going on Toyland Tours in its opening year. :p

Would have to say corkscrews last day its my best memory of towers purely for the fact I and many others got to ride an amazing ride on its last day

March 1994, more specifically front of the queue on Nemesis opening day.

I'd also like to go sometime in the 1800's, to see the Towers and Gardens in all their glory.

;D

Would chose 2004, Would seem like the perfect year to go as the park has new rides such as Spinball Whizzer, Flume refurbed, Air, Cariba Creek and Splash Landings. Plus I would be still to be able to ride Black Hole and Toyland Tours! :)

far back enough to meet the earl of shrewsbury and ask him so many questions about the history of the towers, and see the amazing place how it once was.

I would have to agree with you there Danny. I would love to see what Alton Towers has become 10 years into the future or maybe even further!

I would go back to 2007, on a day when John Wardley was on park, and attempt to convince him that I was from the future and that the 2010 planned coaster is an absolute disaster. And that B&M wingriders are the coaster of the future, especially when built on old car parks :p

I would go into Closed Season 2003/2004, and try harder with the woodie plans going ahead to match the UG Land theme instead of adding Rita. I could also prevent closure of many classic rides such as the Swan Boats and try and get a new Breakdance to replace the broken Dynamo for nostalgia and see how the Log Flume refurb is going.

For myself it'd probably have to be 1997/1998 in the lead up to Oblivion's opening. Looking at the material that was on show at TTF@10, it was pretty prominent that this was the most hyped and marketable addition the park had in the last 20 years.

From concept releases to condoms, viral ads to visitor interaction, Blivvy had it all - before it'd opened!

Well its a hard choice. I would love to go back to when the house and the gardens were still very grand and in tact, just to see how different it all would have been.

In terms of the theme park I would probably go back to either 1994 to see the opening of Nemesis and Toyland tours and just how the public reacted to Nemesis or I would go to 1998 to see the opening of Oblivion (and see how nice and clean it looks!)

I'm going to say 2002. We think flying coasters as standard now but I'd like to see what people thought of them then.
