Ride Me.. T Shirts

Should Alton remove the RIDE IT and RIDE ME merch?

  • Yes - It is extremely sexist and should be removed immediately

I just think the Ride Me merch looks very generic and belongs in a clothes shop rather than a theme park shop.

I don't like it but don't have a problem with it. It's been on sale for a few years now and the media only care all of a sudden because of the incident on The Smiler.

:)

All forms of branded clothing other than theme park related merchandise have no place in a theme park, regardless of slogans and the context of them.

I've never liked or would buy the Ride Me apparel because of the slogan being sexually inappropriate, so I do see where the criticism is coming from and I've always hoped at the start of each season that they've been removed. However the fact that nobody, not even the hypocritical tabloids, gave a damn until the incident just makes it feel like The Mirror are clutching at any negative the park remotely has.

One of those things that I wouldn't buy or wear but I have no problem with it being in shops. If people want to wear it - let them.

This is directly because of the smiler. Like the air clip, the swarm of bees around Rita, the pheasant on Rita, the octanauts evacuation and the runaway mine train breakdown, the tabloids are exposing how pathetic they are, for the prize of a not-really-news headline.

A shop near where I live actually sold some clothes with very racist statements on.

Were they banned from the shop. Yes
Were the shop owners fined. Yes
But did it make the papers. No

I love how the metro cashed in on the story, copy and pasting it from the mirror article. They're just a bunch of leeches.

It's down to the individual to decide whether they wish to purchase the t-shirt if they like. Just because someone personally doesn't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be sold to anyone, it's rather elitist really. They are in adult sizes and have a bit of an innuendo printed on them, (it's not exactly sexually explicit or covered in swear words) it's not harmful or going to cause the corruption of a generation. Some people are just do gooders. I wouldn't buy them myself as they don't personally appeal to me but I wouldn't stop others buying them. The papers evidently have nothing better to print.

I've got better things to worry about in life tbh.

Wouldn't buy it myself as it's pretty pointless clothing (could do with a rollercoaster track or AT logo on it), although I don't see the big issue with it. It's only sexual because people interpret it that way, and anyone who is old enough to take it that way is old enough to buy it and wear it.

That's the problem with them I'd assume. I know if that had a logo or anything pertaining to AT I'd consider buying one, but there's no way that I'd wear one of them outside the park as they are now. "Ride me" anywhere outside a theme park can only mean one thing in most peoples eyes

That is why I wouldn't buy one. Inside the park, your explanation -if anyone asks why you would wear it- is that to you it means about the rollercoasters.

Outside the park...

It's better than the one at the Dungeons relating to Extremis which had "Well Hung" on it...

I laughed, and moved on with my life, unfortunately it seems people are very precious these days and like to quote Mrs Lovejoy at every possible moment...

The notebook is pretty cool though with all the flashy lights.

Sad times that the British have lost their humour when we have to complain about stuff like this.

Seriously.

Has anyone actually realized that this whole thread is based on an over-exadurated tabloid story about a t-shirt that some people believe puts teenagers in danger.

It is up to you weather or not you buy it and anyone old enough to take it "that way" is old enough to make their own decision if they think it does put them in danger.

I am a teenage girl, and I do not personally believe that it would put me in danger, but regardless of this, I would not buy one. Mainly because you can't wear it outside the park, and the fact I would much rather have an oblivion jacket. Come on... they look amazing!!!
