On a random note, can I ask a question to anyone who has inside info:
Does the pre-show contain live actors? I read somewhere that it does, but WickerManiac's description of the pre-show did not imply that there would be live actors.
Anyway, glad to see the opening sort of confirmed as 17th March! I'm excited for when I head to Towers on the 18th March!

In short - no.

Please NO live actors.

It's getting terribly boring and tedious when every new Merlin attraction has to have random scary characters trying to get a cheap reaction from you at every turn.

They're incapable of putting on any level of decent entertainment, so just leave the spooky stuff for Halloween. At least then we have something different to look forward to.

@WickerManiac says they're aren't any, so it should all be good.

Without meaning to 'volunteer mod' or derail this topic any further before this ride opens, but as has been observed, the quality of conversation here is increasingly terrible. The usual suspects making the same unimaginative joke about cuts again and again, and in the case above, literally expressing hypothetical anger about something that is confirmed not to be the case. When a forum reaches this level of tedium, it just says more about the outlook and attitude of the members in question that anything that is or isn't happening at the park, even if it is the off-season. I suppose we have the block function for a reason, but even stopped clocks are right twice a day, and besides, I want to be able to read a discussion in it's entirety. I know it's the persona of several members here to be outwardly misanthropic, but please try and be entertaining, thoughtful or amusing with it, rather than clogging up threads with tedious, half-baked banter and corporate conspiracy theories.

^Same old suspects?

What the ones that have been here since year dot, contribute the most and entertain the most?
Ok let’s put them back in the closet shall we?

I think what makes this forum great is the light hearted banter. It would be a boring place else.

Oh how I forgot the discussion regarding live actors within these sort of attractions has any form of traction at all. It's ultimately would what happen; it's a statement of the obvious and and not an expression of hypothetical anger. It's the same cycle year on year and has been since the likes of Krake Lebt and Saw Alive first fell on their arses.

I'd understand if every single post made was negative about the project, and whilst I don't speak for others. I've voiced both my concerns and positive observations on the ride throughout this topic. There is very little middle ground these days, and I'd like to think this site has the most diverse outlooks of those covering the ride (I'd rather have the spices of variety than over the top optimism which grows far more tedious at a much quicker pace which is displayed on other sites).

We have very little to go off until the media day next week and we're far out of the realms of being able to discuss any secret prospects about the ride as in reality, there aren't many left. But as you've highlighted, if there's something on the internet that offends you or you don't want to read, it's what the blocking function is for.

I must remember to put aside some time to pop that newly acquired label into my signature.

Aaaaand breathe everyone! As a reminder to all. If you feel it breaches our guidelines, or is off topic then hit the report button underneath said post. We'll review it and make a team decision from there.

This is clearly a busy topic, and there's a lot of varying views and I can see both sides of the argument here. Just make sure your posts contribute to the discussion (be that positive or negative) and let's just all try to get along please!

It may be hard to notice among all my moaning, but search hard enough and you will find several moments where I have said words to the effect of "OK, that's pretty cool".
... Even if I then throw in a "...but how long will it last?"
;)

As I've said before, a pessimist is never disappointed. I've been around long enough to see several projects through from design to opening, and the ones you get hyped up about are always the ones that let you down the most.

But annnyyyyyway, lets not get even further off topic.... Any more pics floating about on farcebook that us Luddites might not have seen yet?

I think live actors would only be used for the press event and the opening day as marketing.
They may interact with the ride if they have the welcoming during scarefest.

Do we know how the preshow is going to work? Like, is it going to be an actual preshow or is it going to be an indoor queue, and if it is an actual preshow, is it going to exit straight onto the ride or just going to lead to another queue (like in Twilight Zone at Disney land)

And how long before they just use it as a hallway...
