Ah OK. What they’re doing is apparently reintroducing the one-way system between Mutiny Bay and Gloomy Wood, as well as putting a one-way system in place within Mutiny Bay, and crowd wardens will be in place around the park to enforce these rules as well as the general social distancing rules.

Ah Wardens - 18 year old that Karen and Kevin will ignore or tell to get lost.

Well when I went couple days ago the queue was coming out of X sector so it must be pretty long to say the least!

How do they stop people actually joining that queue? Staff member at the back deflecting people?

Nothing has convinced me to go to a theme park this year, seems to be a pretty crap experience all round.

Yup, exactly what they do.
Icon a couple of weeks ago, after a brief (two pint) breakdown...you had to move away from the gate entrance to avoid overcrowding, you could not gate queue.

As I turned up a second time, I pointed out that the ride op was signalling the gate staff to reopen, so I bagged a front seat walk on...in the school holidays!

Had a dozen quality visits to the Beach this year...put in the effort, get the rewards.

Not a Merlin bash, but in general - if a queue line closes because it’s reached capacity does that then not mean you’ve got too many people in the park?

Granted there could be reasons like ride breakdowns that cause other rides to get greater queues but shouldn’t that be something factored in?

Nope, it means it is a very popular ride...
Beach on sunday mornings around 10.30 am.
Massive queue for the Big One, massive queue for Icon.
Neither ride open.
All the other coasters are either walk on, or a five minute wait.
Park not more than 20% full.
The problem is not overcrowding, the problem is sheeple.
And only sheeple.
Seen park managers advising the sheeple in the two long queues of the situation...and the sheeple dont move an inch.
An hour or so later, Icon is on a ten minute queue, and Big One is half the queue it was an hour before.
I love my sunday mornings!

I think a lot of people have the idea of doing one of the big rides early on "before the queue gets big". Not a bad idea if you're genuinely one of the first there but if not you should change course and do rides that don't have a queue.

I think everyone knows that the smiler, wicker man and spinball are no no's first thing in the morning (if you don't get there early enough)

So it’s safe to say 2020 has been somewhat of a bizarre year.

I think we can also all agree than perhaps the most bizarre thing to happen this year, is that following cut backs to Disney’s park hours in September/October, there are now multiple days where Alton Towers has longer opening hours than any park at Walt Disney World...

...the world sure is a strange place right now ;)

Something I never thought I'd see!
