Scarefest 2020

Think it's great the park are even holding a scare event this year even if it will be different to normal. I'm sure plenty of other places won't bother.

I actually don't particularly like scare attractions though. Not because of fear of actors or small spaces or anything like that I just don't find them particularly interesting or value for money. Also everyone one I have done has felt the same as all the others.

I may attend this year though just for the late night riding. That alone is enough for me.

Yeah that's the main reason I went for the first time last year (Thirteen and Wicker Man in the dark are excellent by the way- don't miss) but also did Darkest Depths as my first scare maze.

I hope I'm able to book solo, none of my family usually go in, it's usually just me, and I'm thinking if they have the idea of one party at a time with a gap inbetween that I won't be able to get tickets, like how the Dungeon is a minimum of two right now.

It will be interesting how they do it, when busy they’ve been known to send groups of 15 in to keep the queues down, what worse they sometimes do this when there is no queue which is really annoying.

It will be hard to put groups together if you’ve got to keep two metres apart from each other, especially in a scare attraction as people scared may run quicker than others which could lead to it being hard to socially distance.

Plus it will be hard for people to see where other groups are in dark sections of the mazes. They could add more lighting to help with social distancing but I hope they don't as that would tame the experience.

I'm not a big fan so haven't done many scare mazes, but I did Terror of the Towers something like 15 years ago (when it was free!) and they had each group in a room at a time where the plot played out in some rooms, or there was scares in other places. You didn't pass into the next room until the previous group had moved on. This would work for keeping group segregated for covid distancing now, but it does lend itself more on a plot based maze with actors explaining rather than just walking through something.

Yeah it’s been a while since towers have done a plot based maze like that, majority now are just walk through style mazes, I guess these are far easier to do, and much better for throughout than a story based maze.

How large is the Toxic Junkyard going to be approximately? Considering it's outdoors and using those shipping containers as walls; I doubt it will be the size of The Welcoming...

Yeah Scary Tales was of a relative length if I remember. To be honest, Scary Tales is one of my Towers favourites since I've started doing scare attractions there.

Scarefest will always be busy obviously, but there is always 1 weekend in particular each year that is absolutely crazy. Normally the one directly b4 Halloween. Last year it was the 26/27th weekend. Harder to say this year as Halloween falls on a Saturday. So it’ll either be the 24/25 or 31/1st Nov that’ll be mad.

Booked in for Mine Tours, Toxic Junkyard and The Attic at 3 on 10th October and then Darkest Depths at 4. Worth mentioning maze times are 3pm-6pm this year instead of 1pm-9pm.
